54th Street was founded in Kansas City, MO by Thomas E. Norsworthy in 1989. He envisioned a place that would accommodate a consistently crowded dining room as well as a lively bar crowd, while offering the quality food and drinks that exceed national chain competitors.
At 54th Street, we believe that great food starts with fresh produce, high quality meats and ingredients and meals prepared from scratch. With our amazing range of scratch prepared menu items, we truly have something for everyone. The Five-Four promise is to forever uphold our tradition of serving generous portions of housemade food and drink at an honest price.
54th Street welcomes you for all occasions.
Chain offering a broad American menu & drinks in a relaxed setting with kitschy, eclectic decor.

No Handicap Tables. If you are in a wheelchair you have to sit sideways.
Great burger and club sandwich. Calamari’s were excellent.

We recently visited 54th Street and tried a variety of items—the steak sandwich, fish tacos, and the doner shawarma. Overall, the experience was decent, but not quite at the level we were hoping for. The service was great; the staff were attentive, professional, and did their job well, which we truly appreciated.
The highlight of the meal was definitely the fish tacos. They were spicy, flavorful, and absolutely delicious—easily the best item we ordered. If the rest of the dishes matched that quality, this would have been a much higher rating.
The steak sandwich and the doner shawarma, however, were very basic. The steak sandwich especially felt like it needed more flavor, more balance, and some thoughtful veggies. It was generous in portion, which we appreciate, but lacked the chef’s touch in terms of seasoning and creativity.
Because the service was good but the food was inconsistent—excellent in some parts and underwhelming in others—I’m giving this visit three stars. I hope they improve the flavor and presentation of the sandwiches, because the potential is definitely there.

I went to 54th Street in Stone Oak this past Sunday and had an incredible time. The food was solid and the sangria margarita was great, the bartenders were nice and professional, but what really made the experience unforgettable was Hector. He went above and beyond throughout our entire visit, making sure we had everything we needed, taking time to chat with us, just made the experience amazing. His friendly personality elevated the whole thing. Overall, it was a really enjoyable time and I’ll definitely be back!

We had a fantastic experience at 54th Street Grill & Bar thanks to our amazing waitress Kayla, who was attentive, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed. The manager, Hector, also stopped by several times to check in on us and it truly showed how much they care about their guests’ experience. We ordered four appetizers for the table, Gringo Dip, chicken tenders, tater kegs, and mozzarella sticks, and every single one was delicious, fresh, and came out quickly. Our Long Island Tea and Espresso Martini were both made perfectly. It was especially nice sitting in the bar area with the doors open on such a beautiful day, which made the whole experience even better. Great service, great food, and we’ll definitely be back!

Myself and 2 family members had a late lunch at this restaurant recently. We were quickly seated even though there was a waiting list. The staff were quite friendly and attentive. We ordered the gringo dip as a starter; chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes with grilled brussel sprouts; spicy fried chicken sandwich with fries and rattlesnake pasta. We all thoroughly enjoyed our food but the portions were so generous that we all brought food home. This restaurant has a large and varied menu so you’re sure please everyone in your party. I highly recommend this restaurant.

We used to go to 54th Street fairly regularly some years ago, but found that the food quality, choices, and service were generally declining. The last time we went to this location was shortly after the COVID pandemic ended and they, like all service industry operations, were still in recovery mode with hiring and other challenges. Service and food quality/taste really had suffered, so that experience ended our time with 54th Street until last night when we decided to try it again.
Time has been good to this one. We had great service from the moment we arrived on a very busy Friday night. Had to wait a bit after getting seated before anyone came to take our initial order, but to one of the on-duty manager’s credit, he noticed that and came over to start the ball rolling. Our waiter, Luis, arrived and took over, but kudos to the manager for his awareness and action. Exactly what a manager should be.
Luis was great. All over checking on us after we got our order, very friendly, and just seemed like a nice person. Our food orders were very good, presented nicely on the plates, all cooked just right, and reasonable for the price in these challenging times. We ordered Happy Hour house margaritas, which were also really good and NOT from a machine. That was nice. Kudos to the bartender for making decent ones at a reasonable price.
Overall, we were pleased to see that things were much better than our last visit and we’ll be back much sooner the next go-round!

We ordered online from here. We spent nearly $100 between my husband and I, and it’s so not worth it. I ordered a steak with a loaded mash potato. The steak had zero flavor, the potato was still hard, and had zero flavor. My husband ordered the chicken fried steak, his steak had zero flavor and was extremely small. I mean. Super small. We also ordered a side of bread and butter. The bread was so stale it took both of us just to tear it apart. I wish I was exaggerating. And it left flour everywhere. Not eating here ever again. And we can’t even get a stupid refund. I’m embarrassed for this place.

This was my first visit to this location of 54th Street Grill and I was pretty impressed! We visited on a Friday evening around 7:00pm, and although it was crowded, we only waited 5 minutes to be seated. They have a huge menu, but we saw they have this ‘Dinner for Two’ special that includes 1 appetizer, 2 entrees and a dessert for $39 – not a bad price! We started with the fried pickles, which came out hot and were very tasty. My Husband and I each ordered the veggie burger which was also very delicious! One thing I appreciated about this veggie burger was that the patty tasted and looked made-in-house. I am not a fan of those prepackaged patties that come frozen in a box, these had a yummy blend of vegetables, grains and greens and fell a part a little when you took a bite into it (which is a sure sign way you can tell you’re eating a more homemade veggie patty vs the processed kind). We then finished off with the salted caramel & chocolate brownie served with vanilla bean ice cream that was SO GOOD and the perfect way to finish a meal! Our waiter was also very attentive and kind. Highly recommend stopping in here for a bite!
