Great food! We visited a museum in the area and stopped by for lunch. I’m so glad that we did! We started with pan-seared potstickers and shared turkey burger and smashed burger. The mayo on the turkey burger was so good. Both came with fries, but we upgraded one to onion rings for a small charge. It was not too busy, so food came out quickly. Our waiter, Javier, and the rest of the team were attentive. Highly recommend!

Been there twice. Once with my sisters for lunch and then went back a few days later with my husband for lunch. White Line cocktail is fabulous! Turkey Club w/ FF and Shaved Prime Rib are both great items in the menu. I didn’t order it but saw a mountain high Nacho player come out to the table next to us. We were in town for my nieces theatre production at FDU. Quaint little town. Street parking but no meters.

I had visited many times in the past, for local business lunches and dinners, and recently visited again for dinner.
The food and beverage quality was outstanding. I had the smashburger ($17) and it was fantastic. They have a nice selection of draft beers.
The service was very good, although I have noticed that the manager kind of plays favorites which isn’t great for an occasional guest.
The atmosphere is very nice.
Overall, a very good customer experience and value.

.I’ve lived in Madison for almost 23 years and was actually there the same night being described. My experience was completely different.
It was around 10:20pm and the bartender clearly said the kitchen was closed but the bar was open — which seemed reasonable for that time of night. As more people came in, including a larger group, the place picked up and the energy felt fun and lively. From where I was sitting, she was handling multiple groups at once and staying professional.
I also saw her apologize at the end of the night, which showed accountability. It didn’t seem “dead” or inattentive — it looked like one bartender managing a late-night crowd.

Me and my partner just recently visited 54 main, saw reviews and it looked good, so we decided to try it, as we are just passing through. We had a seat at the bar and immidideyly we were greeted and helped, particularly the bartender Michael. He made our drinks very quickly and refused a tip until we made him take it. The food came out shortly after and was great, especially the potstickers (I highly recommend). Overall great night, great food and great drinks, I 100% to recommend anyone passing through or even just looking for a nice place. Thank you!!!!

I have lived in Madison for almost 23 years . I’ve been going to 54 Main on and off for years. Lately the service behind the bar has really gone down. There is a lack of service and attentiveness to paying customers. I’ve returned hoping they are just one-offs but after my recent experience, I won’t return.
Last night, I was celebrating a friend’s bday in Madison with a group of friends. We had dinner at a local restaurant and then stopped in to 54 Main. There were a few patrons sitting at the bar and staff standing around but no one behind the bar. We wanted to make sure they were staying open etc. it was 10:20pm. The bartender came to tell us that the kitchen was closed. We explained we just wanted to get some drinks. And again she told us the kitchen was closed but the bar was open. Her body language and tone was clearly conveying that she was annoyed to serve us. (For context our party was 2 men and 4 women. We are all successful professionals and just wanted to enjoy a close to our evening at a local spot.) The bartender disappeared and had not even asked our order. When she returned she took our orders. Shortly after we got there an entourage (at least 10) of early 20 year old guys came into the bar. We felt a little more relaxed to enjoy ourselves now that there were more people there. And thought maybe the bartender would be more friendly. Nope. When she served me there was an entire black hair on my beer sitting on the foam as she handed it to me. I noticed immediately, but it took 15 min before she even looked our direction for me to request another beer. The remainder of our time there , the bartender was not attentive or accommodating. When we finally got her attention again to place another order of drinks she informed us she couldn’t serve bc they were closing. She did not do a last call. So we were surprised. And we were trying to get her attention for the last 15 mins. That’s fine except she continued to serve the young guys (who were having a loud and raucous good time) and two other patrons after she told us they were closing.
When we left she apologized and said it got so busy and she was sorry. It was not busy. It was not that complicated.
We’re all grown adults who had hoped to end the night on a good note. Instead we were disappointed with the lack of decent service and feeling like we were burdening this establishment with our patronage. As I expressed when we left – we will not return. We can find other local spots that create a more friendly and inviting atmosphere.

Outstanding experience from start to finish. The food was exceptional-fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The drinks were perfectly crafted, generous, and well balanced. Every dish showed attention to detail and quality. The atmosphere was welcoming, and the service was professional and warm. What a nice place to stop by. Love their vibes, the staff is good, the bartender April is very good. Upbeat and excellent bartender. Just bumped into the new manger Tony, who is very friendly. I always like to meet up with my friends at 54, compared to other spots around.

54 Main has great food and drinks. But it’s more than that, they treat customers like family. The owner Joe is always making sure the customers are happy. The staff is amazing, April, Asha, Nicole, and Lena to name a few. They also recently hired a new manager, Tony, who is a great guy. This is my go to place because you cannot beat the service, food, and atmosphere.
