I’m truly not understanding the amount of reviews in here speaking negatively of Arlene (the outside bartender). I went here for the first time to relax and get some time away from the chaos and upon arriving quickly realized I’d rather sit outside as no one else was out on the patio and I preferred being alone over the numerous people inside. The bartender approached me as soon as she realized I was there and was very kind and attentive. She got me my drinks and kept them filled and checked on me frequently to make sure I was doing okay and didn’t need anything. She picked up on the vibe that I was there for a mental reset and left me alone despite it being just us out there and only briefly conversed with me. I can’t attest to what things are like when the live music starts going and the place is jam packed but from what I saw Arlene was very sweet, sociable, and good at her job. On another note, my food was outstanding! I got the island chicken sandwich which was the perfect combination of savory and sweet and for my ranch lovers they had great ranch too! I also got the steamed shrimp as an appetizer which were good but I wish they were seasoned a bit more. Overall, a wonderful experience that didn’t break the bank and left me feeling refreshed and satisfied.

This was our first (and definitely last) visit to 49th street Pub. When we walked in, there was no greeting or acknowledgement from the staff so we seated ourselves. Our waitress came over to take our drink order, she was very polite, but the overall experience quickly went downhill.
Drinks were served in plastic cups and the utensils were plastic as well. While we waited, the waitress and bartender stood with their backs to us, chatting amongst each other instead of checking on customers. At one point, a small group walked in and in the middle of their conversation, the bartender rudely turned and asked loudly, “Are y’all gonna eat?” The group quickly quieted and went to sit down. The whole exchange was awkward and unprofessional.
I ordered the shrimp and crab dip, which was incredibly disappointing….honestly.the cheese topping was so hard that I couldn’t even cut through it with the plastic knife. My significant other ordered the “prime hamburger,” which tasted like something straight from the grocery store freezer section. It was also served with onions, even though we specifically asked for none.
No one ever asked how our food was, and when I requested the check, despite barely touching my meal, no one offered a box or seemed to care that it wasn’t eaten.
Overall, the food, service, and atmosphere were all extremely poor. I’ve never felt more unwelcome in a restaurant. Definitely not a place we’ll return to or recommend.

If only you could get glasses instead of plastic cups I would give it a five-star. The chicken tenders are awesome, order your burger a little less than what you want it because it will be overcooked. The service is fantastic. It was a rainy evening so they had karaoke in What’s called the tiki bar which is pretty much a hallway, so that was a pretty tight squeeze, it would be nice if they did that indoors on rainy days instead of in the 3 ft swath that goes around the bar, but maybe they just don’t want entertainment indoors. I definitely suggest the chicken tenders, they come in a basket that’s reusable and you don’t have to use the plastic silverware to eat them so you won’t be eating microplastics you’ll just be eating delicious chicken tenders.

Was expecting alot more based on the reviews, food was an absolute let down. Ordered a simple cheese pizza…. not sure how you screw that up but they did. Would have done better to get a frozen pizza and reheated. The rest of my party had similar experiences. I’ll only comment on what I Ordered. The wait for the food was 3x what it should have been. So don’t come here expecting much.

While we own a home on Oak Island we are not there all the time. This is the first visit trying 49th Street Grill. It definitely lived up to all we have heard about it. There was a half hour wait, which was not terrible, in the middle of the main beach season here on Oak Island. Every staff member from the hostess, to the servers, to the helpers were all kind, courteous, and knowledgeable. The food smelled amazing from the minute we walked in the door. The menu was small but after talking to the server, there are many things not on the menu that are actually part of the menu. For instance, the menu does not include child options but they do have an entire child’s menu. The food on the menu is a large variety and all so flavorful. I enjoy having choices that are not your normal burger and fries. I tried the Island Chicken and it was amazing! I highly recommend it. We will absolutely be visiting 49th Street Grill again every time we are here.

Out of wings, fried mushrooms, crab legs and crab cakes. Down to 1 fryer so long wait for food. Only 2 paper towels at our table. We ordered chicken tenders which came out good, but the onion rings and sweet potato tots were very over cooked to the point of being burnt. May have been an off night for them, but I will never know, because I won’t be back.

Food was good! They are still working out the kinks. Had an issue on the appetizer but they made it right when we brought it to their attention. Lot of new staff. Give it a try and be patient. Has a lot of potential. I will be back.

Staff very attentive. I liked her honesty when I asked about particular items. She helped guide me to better choices for my palette.
Very accommodating with our party of eight. She kept our drinks flowing.
We ordered: wings, burgers, wonton tacos, Greek salad, fries, pretzel, shrimp basket, steak bites fried pickles & mushrooms. Every one was very happy with their meals.
Inside is a bit dark, but there is a lovely outdoor patio & bar as well. Plenty of parking.

Coleslaw was rancid, fries were fried in very old oil. We will not go back as this meal was incredibly expensive for very sub par food. Was not able to sit outside as requested due to not enough wait staff.
