What a lovely location of 42 North! I’ve always loved the East Aurora location, but it’s exciting to see this pop up in Buffalo! The design is sleek and beautiful and the staff is very kind and helpful. We ordered a lot off the menu with our large group, and everything was delicious. It would be the perfect spot to go before the theatre! The burgers are unreal and truffle Parmesan fries are a must! But truly, you can’t go wrong! Oh and obviously the beers are fantastic! But if you’re not in the mood, they have wine and delicious cocktails as well.

Hummus plate and flat bread pizza were both outstanding and reasonably priced. Our waitress did a great job getting us out in time for the show at Sheas. We’ll be back!

Great staff, beautiful space, delicious food and beers. I am super happy with my experience here. I decided to make a reservation online just to be safe. We arrived 15 minutes late and there was no issues. We went to the bar to check in and were immediately taken to our table. Our server showed up a minute later to take drink orders and offered to take food order as well. The food came out within 10 minutes. Everything tasted great. I had a flight and all four beers were very tasty.

Have been here twice now and both times everything was fantastic! Very easy going staff. Knowledge and friendly. Food is fantastic for being a small little brewery. Beer is very good and they know what matches with what main stream beers you probably drink. Directly near Shea’s which is perfect before a show. No parking nearby and I believe Fridays and Saturdays they have a 90 minute max but more than enough time especially as service was great. Great job guys! Will definitely be back.

My wife and I stopped by 42 North Brewing Company in downtown Buffalo for a quick date night before catching a show at Shea’s, and we were really impressed. We had a reservation for around 5:30 on a Friday evening — it was quiet when we arrived, but definitely picked up by the time we left around 7.

I had the Borderland IPA, which was great, and we split the pepperoni and hot honey flatbread along with the truffle fries. Both were flavorful and nicely portioned — great brewery food that went perfectly with the beer. Our server was attentive without being overbearing, and everything felt clean and well cared for. Prices were reasonable, especially for a downtown spot, and we didn’t have to stress about parking since we used the M&T lot nearby.

What really stood out was how convenient the location is — it’s literally a 30-second walk to Shea’s, which made it a perfect pre-show stop. Solid beer, tasty food, good service, and unbeatable location. Definitely a spot we’ll return to next time we’re in the Theater District. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a chill, quality craft beer experience before a show.

The downtown location of 42 North Brewing is unique from its East Aurora location, with a classier vibe. Chic, sophisticated also work for describing this location, which pretty cool for a brewery. It blends in nicely with it’s close proximity to Shea’s Performing Arts Center (same side of the street).

UPDATE: Stopped in before a Sabres game and was looking to get the meatball sub again but it was no longer on the menu. So pivoted and tried the pulled chicken sandwich and the pretzel. Both were great. I’m a little picky so I got everything on the side which they accommodated (as you can see in the pic). Service staff was great!
Other drink options available as well. We shared a couple beers and a glass of wine prior to an event downtown. We wish them well at this new location!

UPDATE: We stopped in for dinner for a Sabres game and wasn’t disappointed. Same great service and drinks. We tried the brisket meatball bomber. Tasty!

I was so disappointed. Workers were very unfriendly. The potato salad tastes like the potatoes were Raw. The cornbread was dry. And the brisket was dry. The pretzel I ordered was pretty good. Their waitress has just reached over everybody every time they bring something to the table. You can’t make a reservation for a table you have to stand there and wait and hope that a table opens. The bartenders were taking shots behind the bar while we were still waiting for drinks. Won’t return.

The food and service were both very good. Also a great location if you are going to one of the many theaters downtown.
But, it was SO loud inside, we really didn’t enjoy our meal. Felt like we were in a nightclub at 1 am. I guess it’s the design of the room. We were there for dinner around 6:30pm. Such a shame, we’ve been to the original location south of Buffalo.
For this reason we will probably not return.

We always come here before Shea’s as there are not a lot of restaurants within walking distance of our parking space and Shea’s. The food is always good and the portions are more than enough to eat, especially for lunch. 2 of us had a side salad and shared the Margarita Flatbread, which was excellent. I couldn’t have eaten anymore even if I wanted to. We always make a reservation, as it can become busy before a show. It does get loud in there when the restaurant starts to fill up.

Excellent white truffle flatbread, and maybe the best cider I have ever had. Crisp, and light. We stopped by after the Shea’s crowd had left so there were only about 10 of us at the bar, I understand it was packed just an hour earlier. Great staff, excellent food.
