It was okay. I took the food to-go. The two orders of Mac n cheese looked like one serving to me. The smoked ham tasted like regular deli ham and the wings …

I just had THE best meal here. I grew up on great barbecue, and I love Baltimore’s version of barbecue, pit beef. I have tried all of the “must-visit” pit beef spots and loved them. So, consider my surprise when my wife and I randomly stopped in at this new spot on Frederick Rd because we smelled the pit and had the best pit beef of our lives. The turkey and beef were so moist and tender and had the perfect amount of smoke flavor. All the sauces are delicious and house made daily. And if that wasn’t enough, the sides might have even outshined the mains! The baked beans were the best I’ve had in my life, and their gravy and fries were perfect. The fries were crisp and fresh, and the gravy was rich and flavorful. The mac and cheese is no slouch either. At the end of your meal, don’t forget to pick up a giant smoked cookie. They are ooey gooey goodness! I hope this place is here a long time!

We ordered delivery through Grubhub. The bag came stapled up with the receipt on it. We requested horseradish, tiger sauce, and mayo with our sandwiches. None of which I regularly keep in my house. None of the sauces/condiments were included and no napkins. When I called 4house, the lady I spoke with blamed the kitchen and said the kitchen receipt had no sauces on them. If that’s the case then I would expect the person handling the register would double check on the carry out/delivery orders. When I asked if we could get a credit for the inconvenience she suggested we come up to the restaurant to get the sauces (despite just paying a $3 delivery fee) or call Grubhub for a credit, which was clearly not Grubhub’s fault. The pit beef sandwich was just ok. My husband had the turkey and said it seemed like lunch meat turkey that was thrown on the grill for a bit.

I’m not one to usually leave reviews but if any place deserves one it has to be 4 House! The first time I came in I had no idea what to order and the person behind the counter came over to my side and fully walked me through their menu. I can’t say how much I appreciated that as a customer! I got the golden bbq wings and they fantastic! Especially for the price! I will be back many more times, so glad to have them in our Catonsville community!

Was in the area and had a craving for pit beef so stopped in here. Although it was a little difficult to find at first, it was well worth it. Beef was high quality, could pick own “temperature”, lots of choices of excellent sauces, and fantastic service. It was excellent and would definitely come back.

So delicious!! The pit beef was flavorful and cooked perfectly, the French fries reminded me of boardwalk fries with the salt and vinegar provided. The homemade old bay tiger sauce was amazing and the smoked Mac & cheese too!

On the west side, Pioneer is king but 4 House puts up a pretty good fight. Stacked sandwiches, friendly folks, all the sauces you want. Harder to get a really rare sandwich, but the smoke is better/more noticeable here, along with what appears to be a slightly more prominent seasoning rub. Sliced thin enough to be extra tender, which is always appreciated. A bit of a trade-off between the smoke and the rare/medium balance, but a little different take ain’t a bad thing. Menu includes drive classic sides like mac-n-cheese and crispy fresh fries that are some of the best around. Definitely a solid pit beef option.

Fantastic meal here – pits are in the back of the house. I was walking with my kids and had a great convo on their process. Everything is smoked and scratch. MD cured white oak. No lighter fluid or liquid smoke. It shows. Med rare pit beef sandwich with onion and tiger sauce. *Chef’s kiss* Baked beans were scratch with plenty of chopped meat and perfect smokey flavor. I’ll be back. Tremendous value – best on Frederick Road for BBQ takeaway.
