This is a little hidden gem. Such a cool bar and lobby. Yes it’s a hotel but we hung out here having a cocktail in front of the fireplace, some cool art and comfy couches. Excellent bourbon selection, great beers on tap and they allow dogs here!!!

My boyfriend and I had reservations here for Valentines Day. We were so excited to try some place new. That being said we will NEVER be back to 33 Staves again. We arrived 30 minutes before our reservation. After being seated, we waited almost 30 minutes before even getting a glass of water. Ridiculous! And before anyone asks, no the place was not packed and they had several waiters/waitresses working. After getting a water it was close to 15 minutes before our order was even taken. From there, I waited 15-20 minutes for a cocktail and an unsweetened tea. The appetizer was good, salad was decent, then we got to the entree, where we waited at least 30-45 minutes for. My boyfriend and I both ordered a steak with mashed potatoes and asparagus. When it finally arrived, after I had to threaten to walk out because we had been there for almost 2 hours and had not yet received our entree, they had given me the wrong sides and my steak was super red on the inside which I had ordered it medium well. I just went ahead and ate it because I knew if I sent it back to the kitchen that I would never see it again. While our waitress apologized, her and the other staff continued to LIE to our face saying “oh your meal is coming out right now” and “oh I think someone else took your alls food and gave it to someone else”. Just be honest and say that you all are slow and mismanaged. I counted a total of 5 couples that came in 45 minutes after us and left before we even got our entrees.

The couple next to us ordered their food and was first told that they were out of the pasta they wanted. How are you out of something when you have curated a small five entree menu for Valentine’s Day?? Then, their waiter came back and said “actually we do have it, sorry about that” how do you not know what you have and don’t have. Then, when they got their meal, their waiter didn’t bring them silverware. They had to flag someone down because none of the staff cared enough to come back and check on them or notice that they didn’t even have utensils. Between the excuses, horrible service, okay food, and they didn’t even give us a free dessert or money off our meal for being there almost three hours, needless to say we won’t be back. Happy Valentines Day to us I guess

Had to write this while I was still here because I’m literally here for a bridal shower and my food came out completely cold I ordered steak and eggs. I asked if they could bring me hot food. I thought they’d remake it they cut up my steak over cooked it and none of the fat is rendered this might literally be the worst steak I’ve ever had. Like someone really cut up my steak and sent it back out Luke warm this food literally ruined my mood cuz now I have to go get food.

I live really close to this restaurant so I want to love it, though I have honesty given it way too much grace.

Being a local, I often call the restaurant for to go orders. The only phone number they have listed is for the hotel who then transfers you over to the restaurant. Every time I call, I have to be transferred at least three times before someone in the restaurant picks up. They often note that the restaurant is busy, though two times ago, I literally walked in and there was only one person at a table.

I called the other night and the first three times my call went to voicemail. Then, on calls four and five the restaurant staff literally picked up and let me listen to them talk to each other and to customers for 4 to 5 minutes before I eventually hung up. To me – that just added intentionality and blatant disregard for customers. If they don’t want to accept to go orders, that is fine… as it stands, they do and it is so frustrating every single time to go through this.

Also, a few months ago, I ordered $63 worth of food which was all incredibly disappointing. My zucchini app only had three coins in the box. I called management who said they would issue a gift card. The gift card was only $30. So I decided to then only order what that would cover – chicken Alfredo. The noodles barely covered half of the box. For the restaurant to have such a fun location, it is incredibly disappointing that their service is non existent 100% of the time and their portions are very minimal for cost.

Hate to complain but I’ve given this restaurant business despite them improving. This was my second visit and don’t really want to go back. Each time I’ve been with parties of 6 to 8 and there have been issues. Today our food took a while and then came out cold. It was remedied by the waitress, replacing each item that we complained about or they just kept it but really should have sent it back. I don’t have any photos but I got the fruit parfait which was good, minus the large amount of fruit water discovery at the bottom of my bowl, a biscuit and gravy (gravy was brought out hot, after I hated to say that it was brought out cold). My family got espresso which had to be made fresh again, French toast which had to be made fresh again, minus my brother who just sucked it up and ate it cold, my husband and other brother got served luke-warm and good country sunrise breakfast.

The service was nice and as fast as she could do with a slow kitchen. 20% was added to the bill because of our party size….which I do understand, but also don’t because they clearly cannot handle ‘big’ parties.

The atmosphere isn’t the best because people are constantly carting their luggage and luggage carts through the restaurant that doesn’t really have enough space for them to get through…because the hotel entrance is closed for some reason. Could be closed because they are automatic doors and it is cold out but then the chill of the constantly used door in the restaurant is opened and closed providing cold air to you, as you sit next to the already cold window.

Was in town the past weekend and stayed at Origins hotel. During our stay we patronized the bar/restaurant, 33 Staves and did not disappoint. Drinks are very well made and service was fantastic. Thank you Ginger, we enjoyed the time we spent with you! PS, my girls told the front desk upon checkout to tell you thank you

They have a very nice selection of bourbon as well as wine.

We travel through the Lexington KY area a couple times a year. This was our second trip to 33 Staves. The food is quite good. Presentation, and service are fantastic. My only critic from this last visit was that they had a feature substitution for the Salmon dish I was craving. But the substitution was a blackened salmon and it was pretty darn good too. The wait staff is super polite and very professional. Our server this time was Eric and he was a pleasure. I will most likely make this a must on every future visit. The whole menu looks fantastic and I’ll probably work my way through it eventually. This trip I tried their take on a watermelon salad. Not the way I’m used to, and not how id make it, but it was very good. Im definitely adding candied jalapeños to my personal watermelon salad recipe. My wife and I always enjoy our meals here. They also have a very well stocked bar with lots of tasty options.

Not a good experience.
We made a reservation through open table this morning for brunch. Upon entering we had to find the desk to check in where the lady standing behind the desk never looked up and replied sit where you want. Why was there a need for a reservation….

We waited 20 min for someone to take our drink order, another 15 to receive water, 10 more for orange juice and coffee. Water was brought for my 14 yr old in a plastic cup with a lid, not a problem, but then she brought her the Don’t be Chai drink with alcohol. (We asked she said it didn’t contain alcohol)
Found small hairs floating in our orange juice. Food was average. Potato’s were good but the French toast had way too much vanilla extract, so much it gave an after taste.
This restaurant is not upscale. It is the exit and entrance to the hotel. Basically felt like a hotel bar that decided to start serving brunch.
We sat waiting to be served while everyone checking out of the hotel walked past us, fanning the cold air from the door.
Don’t recommend and won’t be back.

We’ve eaten here a couple of times on visits to Lexington and the food and service has always been outstanding. Our latest visit last week was no exception. My husband and I both ordered the salmon. My husband isn’t a fan of blackened, so he asked if there was some type of sauce they could do instead. The chef, Melissa, came out to talk with him and suggested a sauce she could do. It was phenomenal! It was so nice of her to take the time and effort to make sure we were happy. She also whipped up a couple of starter salads topped with her housemade buttermilk ranch dressing that she had made fresh that morning. It was perfect! BTW, I had the blackened salmon with mashed potatoes and sautéed squash that was outstanding. For dessert, we had an apple crustada type dessert that was light and fresh. Excellent. We will definitely be returning our next visit.

Stayed at The Origin and stopped in for a drink and a snack during my stay in Lexington. The food was delicious and the bartender was so friendly and knowledgeable! Drinks were made well and service was fast.
