Nestled in the heart of Boston’s vibrant South End neighborhood, 311 embodies the rich history and cultural diversity of its surroundings. Our name symbolizes the trinity of the chef, the ingredients, and the customers, with the number 3 representing creativity, self-expression, and communication, and the number 11 signifying intuition, spiritual awakening, and enlightenment. We strive to bring these elements together to create an exceptional dining experience that celebrates the beauty and complexity of Japanese cuisine.

We have been to this restaurant a couple of times and enjoyed dining here for its food and service, prior to their earning of a Michelin star. The pacing of the food improved so that we’re not spending more than 3 hours eating. We really enjoyed the cooked courses, very flavorful and creative. The nigiris were very fresh but were all a bit too mild in flavors we thought, nothing exceptional, except for the monk fish liver which was so delicious on its own, no additional seasoning required. I had a second helping. It truly is foie gras of the sea.
Service was fairly attentive and the hostess was friendly. The atmosphere is typical of a refined Japanese omakase restaurant, really reminded me of dining in Tokyo and Kyoto, which we have missed so much. Overall, we really enjoyed our dining experiences. We hope that the chef and restaurant will continue to improve upon this experience.

A truly authentic and memorable omakase experience. From the serene, clean, and welcoming entrance, you know you’re in for something special. The chef’s selection was a journey of traditional flavors, where the incredible freshness of each piece of fish was allowed to shine. The rice was perfection—warm, with just the right seasoning and texture to complement the neta.
Service was attentive and unobtrusive; our tea and sake pairing were refilled seamlessly throughout the evening. An exemplary dining experience where every element is considered.

I had an excellent time! First omakase expertise and I thought why not at Boston’s only Michelin star. The food and sake was excellent and I’m so happy I got to live that experience. I really enjoyed the attention to detail as well as the tatami mat style used throughout the night.
Unfortunately Chef Wei was unable to serve any food due to a small injury, but the other chefs did an excellent job, and Chef Wei was still around to ask us our opinions on the food and thank us for coming.

I’ve had the pleasure of dining here several times the past couple of years and can say that the experience and quality of food is always beyond incredible. Chef Wei has some staples to the menu that remain consistent and excellent, while also integrating seasonal ingredients into new dishes depending on the time of year and what was available for the day. Every experience I’ve had here has been truly special and one I always cherish.

The space is intimate and quiet. There were many dishes which was a plus that made me full..however I was more impressed with the appetizers as it was creative and tasty compared to the nigiri which was unfortunate. For some reason when I had the fish, it didn’t taste exceptional and after 1 bite, it would lose its flavor. I expected more for the price.
Another thing I noticed after we recieved the bill and paid, was that the pricing for the alcohol bottle we ordered, we thought it was a set price as stated in the menu, when we got the bill we were charged for double. So I feel like there needs to be transparency that it’s the amount per person, not for the actual bottle.

Exceptionally unique and delicious experience. Watching the chefs work and put some of these dishes together was really impressive, and each piece was better than the last. Special spot that is worth a visit if you can – sake pairing event was really excellent as well!

I was lucky enough to be able to host a private event with 311 for my birthday and they exceeded my expectations! Chef was able to create an incredible menu with a diversity of dishes and flavors. We were also fully enveloped in an extremely high level of service. The attention to detail on plating, quality of the bites and table management were unmatched. Having dinner here is an experience not to be missed!

I’ve been there 3 times now. Always a very pleasant experience. Counter sitting, great sushi and side dishes, nice sake list. The service is attentive and nice interaction with the chefs. The fish selection is always stellar, many are hard to find in the US. Highly recommended.

My partner and I are true foodies—whether in New York, London, or Tokyo, we always follow Michelin recommendations and top reviews in search of unforgettable meals. This omakase spot is, without a doubt, the most stunning culinary experience we’ve had in the Boston area. The reason is simple: the chef here truly loves food. You can see it in his careful selection of ingredients, his meticulous preparation, and the attention he pays to every detail for his guests. He doesn’t speak much, but his dedication and craftsmanship are fully expressed through his work. This is already our third visit, and each time has been a delightful surprise. Every time the final course is served, we feel a bit of sorrow that yet another culinary feast has come to an end.
