DO NOT GO HERE – Especially for a take home holiday meal.

It was just me and my wife for Thanksgiving this year so we ordered the premade Thanksgiving meal from here. We ordered a week in advance, in person. There were choices – Turkey or ham, mashed or sweet potatoes, vegtables and stuffing.

We ordered (in person, not on the phone) the turkey with mashed potatoes, gravey on the side with corn and stuffing.

My mistake was not checking everything when I picked it up. Both meals for my wife and me were in seperate foil containers. Stuffing covered in turkey, sweet potatoes (NOT MASHED), corn with everything covered in gravy. All in one container.

The food was so inedible that even our dogs wouldn’t eat the turkey, the stuffing was like concrete from sitting in all the gravey and we don’t eat sweet potatoes.

We basically spent 25$ per person, plus tip to throw it all away.

Don’t ever come here – They never get the food right and really don’t care.

As you can see, I usually leave positive reviews. Never negitive ones – but this was that bad.

The food was okay and the service was fine, but I really have to question the pricing. I don’t mind paying for a good meal, but I ordered two kids’ French toasts — which turned out to be just one slice of bread cut in half, with nothing else included — and they were $7.00 each. Seriously? One piece of French toast for that price is outrageous. I do understand that the cost of everything is up, but come on. It’s a shame, because I live nearby and would love to support a local spot, but I won’t be going back.

This diner employs the criminally insane.

George’s Lincoln Park diner is an unassuming breakfast/lunch counter joint in a strip mall. It looks like the kind of place you would see in Triple D on Food Network. Upon ordering you realize it more like a place from Kitchen Nightmares.

In hindsight I should have known I was in for a mistake when I heard the tireless toil of microwave buttons in the kitchen. I rarely think of a dish that come out better in the micro. The other big red flag should have been when they told us that the french toast was presoaked, as if bread dunked in eggwash couldn’t be a made to order dish.

The real highlight of the meal was when we found no cheese in the 3 item (cheese, mushroom, green peppers) omelette. Our server assured us she entered it into the computer from across the restaurant. We asked for the cheese as the eggs were still steaming and I love inter table cooking, what we got for this request will go down in infamy for all of time.

Approximately 6 minutes later we were brought a saucer of yellow sludge. Confidently our server exclaimed “I had them melt it for you” to which we affably and uncomfortably smiled. Aha! The microwave duly at work.

If it were 1975 (my guess of its opening date based on the original decor still on display) this meal may have blown back our coiffed hairdos, but I’m certain George is rolling in his grave for the experience had within the walls of his namesake.

If this is your weekly hang, carryon, but if you’re hungry and have never been, keep it that way.

My family always comes here for a quick bite whenever we get a chance to be together. We happened to go on Father’s Day and the owner surprised our table by taking care of the bill for us. The waitress had come to our table to let us know that owner likes to choose a family once a week as a giving back gesture and comps their bill and that our family was chosen. It was so sweet and we asked to meet him to thank him. He said he saw our daughter and said “the kids are our future” in Spanish. It was beautiful. Plus the food is always tasty and the waitress was very personable and polite and friendly throughout the dining experience.

The waiter is nice. the food is just ok . Their system didn’t allow for modification so when we asked for a quesadilla without meat we got charged for chicken. $15 for a small tortilla and cheese. The other items were priced pretty normal for diner rates.
Miss when you could go in here and chat with everyone and have an awesome home-cooked meal.

My wife and I loved coming here for years, we were surprised to walk in on a Sunday AM and see so many empty tables. Attention to details was what made George’s so successful was missing today. Toast was not delivered with the breakfast had to asked for it 1/2 way through our meal, empty ketchup bottle on the table, prices on the menu different from what you are charged. We questioned the differences from the menu to check we were told sorry but that’s the price. On a positive note food was good but we will not be going back. Correct your menu, surprises lead to empty tables.

I recently visited the newly revamped “3 Stone Family Diner.” The staff seemed to really have a “family” dynamic. My food was also great. Though a cheeseburger and fries is a simple meal, the chef truly amplified it. My dessert also proved that 3 Stone Family Diner implores a delicious motif. I had a wonderful slice of cheesecake, dulcified with a blueberry spread. I felt as if everything was fairly priced. One can see how the new owners are positively changing the place. I loved the updates, and have high hopes for the future. Kudos to the staff and owners! Keep it up!
