2M Smokehouse has been rated one of the top BBQ spots in San Antonio Texas Monthly even highlighted them in 2017.so I was excited to try it. The food itself had some strong points: the ribs were outstanding, and the brisket had good flavor, though it was a little dry. The BBQ sauce was very different from traditional sauces more oil-based than thick but unique. The macaroni was ok not to creamy but not to thick but was ok.The pickles were really good
The experience outside, however, was challenging. I had to wait in line for about an hour and a half in the heat with no shade, umbrellas, or covering. Most people in line looked uncomfortable, and standing with my back to the sun the whole time made the wait tougher. Once they opened, several menu items sold out quickly, and the line moved slowly.
Inside, the seating area with AC was small, and most of the seating was outside, which wasn’t ideal given the heat. It also seems like a family run operation, which may explain the slower pace. I truly respect that it’s great to see a family working together and putting in the effort.
Overall, the ribs alone are worth trying, but be prepared for a long wait, limited shade, and items running out early.

This is such a cool spot! Some of the best BBQ I’ve had. The smoked turkey was our favorite out of the ribs and brisket. Which was shocking to all of our group in a good way! The brisket Mac n’ cheese was incredible. If I’m not mistaken, they said that was either new, or temporary, if it’s temporary then they need to make it a staple because personally that was my favorite. Mouth watering the whole time!

Heard a lot about this place so I had to try and my experience wasn’t the best. $59 for 3 sandwiches, 2 sides, and 2 drinks. The brisket was pretty dry and flavorless, pulled pork was a bit better. Elote was good but just a little salty. The bbq sauce almost had a syrup texture, the taste wasn’t my preference and I usually enjoy vinegar based sauces. The pickles had A LOT of dill on them but I only tasted vinegar and spiciness. The egg salad had a weird aftertaste. I liked the cream sodas. The parking lot is terrible! Holes everywhere and limited space. They’re not rude, but not friendly either when it comes to service.

Fantastic. Just ate at Pinkertons 2 days ago and think 2m is a bit better. Wagu tri tip was fantastic. Ribs, sausage, turkey great. Corn was as good as it looks. Beans were ok. They were out of most sides . Cost was less than others . Sunday 12:30 line was 30 minutes. If I was in town longer I’d go again

Alright, so, first things first, prepare to stand in line. But the food is well worth it.
We arrived at 1130 on a Friday and took 45 minutes to get from the start of the line to paying. 20 of that was outside in the sun, the last 25 were inside with air conditioning.
While they have soda and tea, this smokehouse is BYOB, so grab a six pack on your way in. They do have tall glass bottle fantas and cokes.
The pricing and items on the website are a bit out dated, so check the menus and formulate what you want while you are in line. Keep an eye out for butcher paper notes on the wall that will tell you about specials and things they are out of.
They will do to go family meals in a regular and large size. They say the large will feed 6-8 people but it will probably feed 12.
The brisket is on point. Legit some of the best brisket I’ve had in state.
The pulled pork is not your typical bbq sauced mess, but is made with a verde style sauce that make it killer. Props to the cook for pulling out gristle and fat before weighing.
No chicken, but their turkey is pretty awesome too.
The pork sausage is spicy and not for the faint of heart. Beef sausage is more traditional Texas.
Beans are a baracho style and taste as good as they smell.
The corn is excellent, but better in house than taken home.
Worth the wait and the money. Your getting quality food and bragging rights to go with it.

2M smokehouse did not disappoint. The gentleman on the board worked with me when I said I wanted to try 1/4 lb. of everything. Employees worked together like a well practiced team which is always great to see. Pork belly was phenomenal along with the brisket, ribs, and turkey. The pulled pork isn’t so entertaining on its own, but pulled pork isn’t pulled pork without a great sauce (which they provide). The Mac & cheese was great, and the beans were are some of the best I’ve ever had. Huge fan of the house made pickles as well (I want the recipe now haha) Best bbq in SA in my opinion.

If you want the best barbecue in San Antonio, this is it. There’s a reason they sell out! I’ve been a handful of times, and would encourage you arrive early to get the best selection of their offerings before they sell out. I arrived at 11:30 and waited in line for 45 minutes – very popular place, and for good reason. Their brisket is so tender, juicy, and flavorful. The sausages are great. Got the special most recently which was a wagyu tri tip – incredible. Everything they make here is a piece of edible art. The sides? Call everyone you know, they’re amazing!!! Homemade pickles (and pickled bell pepper, nopales, serranos). You can get tortillas as your bread for a few extra dollars. Please check this place out and keep them in business.

We woke up early to try out this BBQ mentioned on Reddit. It was kind of in the middle of nowhere and the parking wasn’t great- it had rained the prior day and the gravel parking lot was super muddy. Mix that with some of the pothole-like holes in the parking lot and it was not a great combo. We were one of the first ones in line and were able to order quickly. What I didn’t like about this restaurant was that they charged for their ribs by the bone, meaning at least half of the weight was the bone. For our rib we ordered, while large, was mainly fat and bone, was like $70. There were not many tables and it was cold out, meaning the outdoor tables weren’t usable. I sat near an outside door and the tables were so cramped that somebody threw the door into my body while I was trying to eat, resulting in a bruise. And upon visiting the bathroom, it was barely lit and there were exposed screws and nails near the floor, which could pose a hazard for young kids if they’re running around.

My husband and I had a high hope on this TX Monthly 50 BBQ. We have been to many of TX Monthly rank so far.
Food- I think it was fair, but about that, not really outstanding, especially compared to the rank they have. I think somehow, it was because how they keep the meat after BBQ. The side was ok.
Atmosphere: very limited table inside. Outside seats where we had to sit were dusty, seats are mostly directly under the sun. Imagine lunch time in San Antonio summer under direct heat. I wish they can do a better job on it.
Good services, looks like they have fun even with the hard work they are, appreciate that!
