I saw this place on some Food Network show and knowing we were going to Chicago soon, looked it up. This restaurant is unique on the inside. There are about 8 tables, so I made a reservation to make sure we got in. Our reservation was at noon on a Friday, and there was only one guy serving the entire place. He didn’t even take our order until 12:25pm. Our water didn’t arrive till 12:45 pm. Once we ordered, the food came out relatively fast.

The spicy cucumber salad was of ample size and VERY spicy to us. The fried chicken for the sandwiches I believe are thighs and the breading was great. It’s just that the chicken pieces were small on my sandwich, but bigger on others. The fries and the onion rings are fantastic.

We all (party of five) had never tried a Mochi donut so we ordered three different ones. We liked them all. I’m not a donut fan, but these might convert me.

This is a one and done place for us because of the service. It is worth going once for the ambiance, onion rings, fries, and chicken. And I might order take-out next time.

You definitely don’t want to miss this place!
Not only do they have delicious donuts and a great variety of food and drinks, but the whole spot is a vibe! Perfect for snapping photos or videos – it’s super Instagrammable with all the fun props they offer. The service is quick and friendly, and the chicken is extra crunchy (so good!). The drinks have unique flavors that I really enjoyed.
For just $4, you can even take some adorable, memorable pictures in their photo booth area!
I’d totally recommend this place to anyone looking for good food and great vibes.

We were so excited to come here, but then got nervous when I saw the reviews, especially the ones talking about the type of service issues people had, but we were so pleasantly surprised for our wonderful and patient service. Our server Faith was so kind to us. She made the tastiest drinks that we all loved, and the donuts were incredible. The food was hit or miss, depending on who you asked around our table, but overall was worth it. I recommend doing the meal experience. You get the biggest bang for your buck and they make everything really easy and enjoyable. Thanks for making this experience wonderful for our children, Faith! You’re great!

Quaint and fun unique local eatery. Prices are not unreasonable for being in the city and near Wrigley Field.

The options for beverages is plentiful, while the food menu is smaller but has a nice variety. You have options of salmon, chicken or tofu. The Nigiri is available for a limited time. And the have a variety including pork and beef and tuna.

Pros: reasonable prices, local eats, good size portions, fun and unique atmosphere. Service is efficient. Very fresh.

Cons: make a reservation if you don’t want to be rushed. They do take walk-ins, which we were, but they had to check to make sure they could accommodate us. Get used to people moving around taking pictures with you wanting to take pictures too.

Blend in by wearing white and black.

The corn soup was delicious. We had salmon poke bowl and the spicy don chicken. The Nigiri was not a favorite of mine, the only reason for the 4 star. And the jasmine hot tea was $5.00 for one cup. Should be at least two cups, imho. The donuts are $19/6.

3 of us ate for $122. 3 drinks, 3 entrees, one order of nigiri and 6 donuts.

The concept of this place is so unique and fun! The service was beyond exceptional. They were so accommodating and kind. The food was so flavorful, the texture of the foods were *chefs kiss* and when they warn you of the spice level… believe them xD Great place for kids and the photo ops are so so fun!

Visited this restaurant at 2pm on a Monday. It wasn’t busy at all but dining space is limited so make a reservation ahead of time if your party is more than 2 people.
The soup of the day was corn chowder and was delightful.
They offer seasonal flavors of onigiri or you can order the regular salmon onigiri. If you purchase 5 onigiri, you get a free miniature sword.
Kids are given tokens to play the claw machine.
There are several methods to earn a free photo booth session. As your waiter.
There was only one waiter on shift and it got a little busy before we were done which caused it to take a while for the waiter to fulfill our requests.

I went as a tourist thing to do, it was very underwhelming.
Online I thought there was more interaction and places to take photos, it was okay.
The vegetables I didn’t eat, they were extremely salty. The curry was good. The chicken burgers are no longer on the menu. The donuts were overly sugar and the bread was not fluffy (I got the strawberry and churro donuts). The staff was friendly enough, but had to ask for extra bowls, water, and the check several times.
Id go for the photos as a tourist but not got the food.

Fun, Flavorful, and Full of Photo Ops!

I had a great time at 2D Restaurant—definitely a unique spot with delicious Asian cuisine and a super creative atmosphere! From the moment you walk in, the black-and-white 2D decor pulls you into a fun, cartoon-like world that’s perfect for photos.

Our servers, Faith and Alexander, were absolutely wonderful—friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience smooth and enjoyable.

The lemonade was so refreshing, and I really enjoyed the Oreo donut—a perfect sweet treat to end the meal. The food overall was flavorful and satisfying, with a nice variety of Asian-inspired dishes.

Whether you’re going for the food, the vibe, or just some cute pics for your feed, 2D Restaurant is definitely worth a visit!

The actual food was awful (except for the fries) everything else looked like it had been reheated in a microwave and the chilli paste the burger had was just a salty concoction. I was worried we’d get sick because the fried chicken looked weird like wet (like when you microwave frozen chicken in paper towels) and the kitchen also looked dodgy (you can see into it). We did not get sick at all but it was just unpleasant. The drinks were good, the deserts were good, the photo booth is fun but they need to clean those props, they look so greasy from everyone trying them on. Giving it 3 stars cause the employees were awesome and it is a unique experience, I just wish it was higher quality. You also don’t need a reservation, we went on a weekend and we were one of three tables there for hours.

I really loved the concept and the food was pretty good. The owner is also a really nice guy and clearly cares about his customers.

The only issue was the place feels kind of dirty. You can’t see in the pictures because I didn’t take any closeups, but the floors are muddied and everything is kind of scuffed. There is this awesome van in the deck that kids can play in but it’s absolutely filthy inside. The seats are dark gray with years of dirt and the seatbelts look moldy. It’s pretty nasty.

As far as I can tell the kitchen and bathrooms are clean, but the place feels like it needs to be touched up (and that van needs to be deep cleaned). I still think it’s awesome and would recommend going, but the wear and tear makes it feel less cool than it would be if it was refreshed.
