It brings me no joy to write this. But after comparing notes with my wife, this was undoubtedly the worst food we have been served at a restaurant in at least ten years. Poorly seasoned and overcooked in the extreme.
Judging by other reviews, maybe it was just an off night. But I can only review on the basis of the food I ate – and it was beyond all hope or redemption.

We had reservations so were seated immediately. Our drinks order was taken then the waitress disappeared. Took 45 mins to order and get our food. The menu we were given was very different from the one we had previewed online. 3 of us ordered the steak tips. They were not steak tips. More like small pieces of undercooked flank steak with bland, mushy mashed potatoes. The French onion soup,was tasteless and the beet salad unremarkable. At an average of $80 a couple, this was an incredibly disappointing meal. Our party of 6 all agreed this is first and last time eating here.,

I live in Richmond, Va. But my mother still lives in Jaffrey. The restaurant was great at allowing me to pay for dinner for her by phone. And she absolutely loved it. She ordered salmon and I arranged for her to also get a shrimp take-home dish. She loved the place, the service and the food. When I called to pay the table, the owner said she was still there and brought her phone to mom so I could say hello. I can’t wait to visit and dine there myself.

Waitressing needs some polish. Beer in bottles at a dining table? NO. Removing plates before everyone is finished? NO. Removing napkins from table before dessert is served? NO. Food was mediocre. Mushroom ravioli had little flavor. Salads were a greens and little else. Very limited menu.
