We found ourselves back at 2 Souls Wine Bar , the kind of place that feels like a well kept secret even when it’s not. My wife, devoted as always, ordered her favorite, Moscato di Asti. Me…. I don’t commit when I am here. I roam the menu like a traveler looking for his next adventure. Tonight, it was the Peach Julep. Sweet, balanced, dangerously easy to drink(I could have had 3 more). The kind of cocktail that makes you wonder what bad decisions would taste like if they were well dressed.
We sat at the bar, where the atmosphere always leans into good conversation and better intentions. Jessica Flowers mentioned something new on the menu. Flatbreads…three of them. We narrowed it down like diplomats avoiding war, finally surrendering to the Tuscan.
Now….this flatbread. Let’s talk.
Garlic butter. Basil pesto. Sliced tomato. Burrata that oozes like a love letter. Paper thin prosciutto, the way it should be. Arugula dressed like it had somewhere important to be. Lastly that balsamic drizzle, the punctuation mark on an already confident sentence.
Everything tasted like it mattered. Fresh, vibrant, intentional. But here’s the thing, the bread, the base, the unsung hero as I’ve called it in the past. It had just enough bite to hold the line. No soggy collapse, no ingredient escape. Just perfect structure, holding up its end of the bargain while letting the toppings sing.
So to Chef Kaleigh Tinsley, well done. You’ve got something special in that kitchen. I’ll be back to try the others. Because when the moment strikes, when life gives you just enough room to breathe, you want a place like this. A drink in hand, a damn good flatbread, and someone you love beside you.

.take the short trip to Elizabeth City to enjoy this charming wine bar with fantastic charcuterie boards, wine selection, and excellent service with a sophisticated (but comfortable) decor.
If I make one recommendation that you should absolutely trust…please order their “Soul Board” dessert! You will experience a heavenly delight with an coffee Gelato, a cheesecake that made David nearly squeal, macaroons. Chocolate, fruit….yeah…just do it!
