My girl and I stayed in town for the night and felt so welcomed at this dive bar! The staff took great care of us. Tamara shared her story and was amazing company while we enjoyed our drinks! If you’re looking for a little drink and gambling this is the place to visit! Even the regulars gave us good vibes, thanks Tamara god bless !

I was over from Europe visiting a friend who was intent on making me discover the “American Bar” scene. 10 different bars in 10 days. Out of all, my favourite by far was the “Two Broke Bartenders”. Why, you might ask. Many reasons, first and foremost the decor. They have done an amazing job, every square centimetre (including the ceiling) is a visual delight and curiosity. Secondly, the service. Friendly, in a genuine way, and prompt. As far as food is concerned, I only sampled the freshly baked pretzel with mustard, but I must say I really envoyed it. Warm, crunchy on the outside, soft in the middle and seasoned just the right amount of salt. The atmosphere I enoyed too. It was a quiet night but people were enjoying pool and karaoke, which provided some much appreciated light entertainment! Finally the selection of beers and drinks is more than satisfactory. My only regret is that I will not be able to visit again soon as it is a 24hr trip from door-to-door for me, and there is no bar that comes close, in my neighbourhood.

— Haven’t set foot in the place, but here’s a recent picture from a Walk-by. BTW their website does not tell you who the “2 Broke Bartenders” are or what the story of them might be, instead prominently celebrating ONE woman who established & still runs the place. –Guess you’re meant to go in and ask….

My guest and I arrived when one guest was at the bar enjoying a drink and visiting with the bartender. Another guest was playing the video machines. We were new in town and chose the location based on the attention-grabbing name. It was a small bar with interesting decor. The first impression was that it would be a fun place to get a drink and have some food.
We waited at the end of the bar near the well while the bartender remained engaged in conversation, ignoring us. She had made eye contact when we walked down the ramp initially, but did not smile or greet us. We continued to wait patiently while the video player cashed in their earnings. When another couple arrived minutes later, and were both greeted and immediately offered service, it was clear to us that we were not welcome and would not be served. When we left the bartender did not acknowledge. My best friend has been a bartender for 40 years and I own a secret shopping business. We both are fully knowledgeable about service standards. This location does not measure up or provide friendly service to out of town guests. I would encourage the bar owner to review the video recording on Friday, 9/12/25, about 2 hours before sunset for this documentation.

We went in and ordered 1 beer, 1 Whisky and 2 cups of chili. Chili was good, but $37.00? Service not so much. The only other people in there were on the video machines. Another couple came in, sat down and waited and waited while bartender stayed on her cell phone! They finally got up to leave when she finally got off her phone and offered to take their order. They told her no thanks. After those customers left, she left the bar, went outside, sat on the bench smoking a cigarette and once again talking on her cell phone! Nobody behind the bar and she never came back to ask if we wanted anything else! We left. If this place is struggling, my guess it would be because of the terrible service and inattention to customers.

Our favorite spot in Newport! We visit this area yearly and this is our go to place. My boyfriend has been in the hospital for the past year so this year’s trip was bittersweet. December 30 my dog and I ended up here. I came here because it is his favourite place to play pool. The man that was working cooked my shrimp and fries perfectly and fed my dog lots of meat. He made a not so great day a lot better. I don’t know his name but I wanted him to know that even though he was just doing his job his kindness made my day….my dogs also. Still my favorite place. Service: very slow. Food: undercooked, arrived in stages. Chicken wings were just slightly under, but chicken strips barely cooked and soggy, fries still raw inside and inedible. Drinks: we didn’t get beer because most of the taps had paper towel stuffed in them (how is this not a major health code violation?) so, thinking it would be safer, ordered one of their “Signature Cocktails”. Worst lemon drop I’ve ever had, the only citrus flavor coming from the tiny bit of lemon garnish. Large dog that belonging to the place that actually put its head on my lap when I was served, and kept laying down in the traffic area between the bar and the kitchen area, nearly causing an accident when it got stepped on. Don’t come here for the food or the drinks. They do have karaoke, sort of, so if drunk guys singing off key is your thing, have at it. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: In response to the unhinged owner response: no, we didn’t order second drinks. My husband never said the food was delicious. And I’m not 70. You seem to have us confused with some other dissatisfied customers. Why take food orders if you can’t fill them without risking a health code violation? We would have gone elsewhere or just back to our motel room. Are you always this hostile to customers just because your place is accurately reviewed online?
