Reviews
Was served by two lovely ladies Cathy and Annabell, the food was fresh and quick.
Thank you so much !
My husband and I stopped by 1MTN for breakfast on a Thursday morning around 10:00 AM. Being the off-season, the main dining room had a comfortable buzz with about five or so other parties, and parking was a breeze.
The Vibe & Service
The restaurant has a clean, modern diner aesthetic—it’s bright and pleasant. For the most part, the service was attentive; our water was refilled promptly, and the food arrived surprisingly fast. However, we did have a brief interaction with one server who seemed rushed and short, though I acknowledge she appeared to be handling a high volume of tables.
The Food: Hits and Misses
We tried a good spread of the menu. Here’s the breakdown:
Corn Bread: A definite highlight! It arrived as four mini muffins and was moist and flavorful, especially when paired with the cinnamon-sugar maple syrup (which I highly recommend).
The Big Breakfast: A solid, if flawed, staple. The pancakes were thin but did a great job holding the syrup. The bacon was perfectly crispy, and the three encased sausages were standard. We ordered the eggs over easy, but they arrived closer to over medium, which was a minor disappointment.
Sausage Gravy & Biscuit: This was the biggest letdown. The dish was only lukewarm upon arrival, and while I prefer the thicker gravy, the flavor was simply mediocre—I’ve certainly had better in the area. The biscuits themselves were forgettable.
Belgian Waffle: Just okay. I suspect the waffle iron may be cooking unevenly; the bottom had a nice crisp, but the center was noticeably undercooked and doughy. Perhaps a longer, slower cook time would improve the texture.
The Verdict
Overall, nothing truly stood out enough to warrant a specific return visit. If you’re looking for a good corn bread appetizer and a modern atmosphere, 1MTN will suffice, but for classic diner breakfast items like waffles and biscuits and gravy, there are stronger choices. This spot will “do in a pinch,” but it’s not a destination.
Prices were reasonable, nothing to complain about, but nothing really standout food-wise.
If you’re looking for a breakfast restaurant in the area, it’s pretty good.
We split a patty melt and fish sandwich, both of which we would recommend. The brioche was super soft and the fish was perfect. The onions in the melt complimented so well. Also the fries are super seasoned and fantastic.
Wish we could have stayed for dessert but a full stomach and three hour car ride do not mix well.
Best part was meeting the new owners, who were so friendly and kind. Don’t miss this spot!’
We had 6 in our party with varying degrees of food allergies or sensitivities which were taken care of. I tried a different item each day and each one was cooked to my liking, was plentiful and the coffee was offered without a wait each time my cup was empty.
Dad had the steak and eggs daily, found it super tasty, Mom tried a number of items but really loved the yogurt and granola. My wife is gluten free and they accommodated her needs even making signature dishes just for her, my Aunt and Uncle tried different items each day and were pleased with thier meals but should have asked for thier egg sandwiches to be well done or the yolk to be broken.
We were served by everyone from the owners to regular staff, I can’t say enough about how helpful, attentive and pleasantly we were treated. We came in strangers and left as family!
I can’t wait till our next visit to enjoy dinner and break bread with them again!
Our order (3 yogurts, waffles with chocolate sauce and whipped cream, and 2 egg sandwiches — totaling $85) was met with visible frustration from the employee taking it. Any small modification seemed to annoy her. When she saw there was no tip added for takeout, she laughed in our faces, which felt incredibly unprofessional.
We asked for syrup, ketchup, and to confirm the waffles had the requested toppings. The ketchup packets were aggressively thrown into the bag as if we were inconveniencing her by simply asking for what we ordered.
When we got home, the waffles were plain — no chocolate sauce, no whipped cream, and no syrup included.
We were hoping to find a new local breakfast spot to support, but the rude and dismissive service made that impossible. Very disappointing first impression.
