Cool prohibition themed Gastropub in Belle Vernon that feels like it would fit perfectly if in a bigger city like neighboring Pittsburgh. My wife and I stopped for brunch on the tail end of a little weekend trip to the Ohiopyle area after I saw this place was on our way to Ohio, and had very good reviews.
Even on Sunday late morning, this place was packed, and seems to be an institution for the small town that it is in. We got seats at the bar and the bartender, though very busy throughout, was friendly and helpful and we never felt neglected. I got a meat “garbage plate” that was very tasty, filling and fair for the price, and my wife got a stuffed peppers style platter and she felt the same. I would definitely stop here again if in or around the area.

Rustic vibe with a nice breakfast menu. The food looked great.. Unfortunately our steaks were overcooked and underseasoned… And the hash browns were also cold. They were kind enough to recook us the steaks which were very tasty the second time around.
I felt that our needs were met and the staff was great to resolve our issues.

Loved this stop! Great atmosphere…named for the year prohibition ended. Good variety of beers on tap, and really tasty comfort food that kept the whole family happy! Shrimp and grits, mussels, chicken parm sandwich, pizza…great variety! A pretty lively local spot without being overcrowded.
We got quick service and great food even though we stopped in without a reservation on Mother’s Day at 7 PM. Melinda took great care of us.
Now my favoririte PA Speakeasy!

First time going there to celebrate my 70th birthday. Our server, Kayla, was the best I’ve ever encountered anywhere. Since we were first-timers, she took lots of time to acquaint us with the drinks, specials and the menu. She had recommendations and did everything with a big smile. She made the occasion very special! Our appetizer (crab spinach artichoke dip) was creamy and gobbled up quickly. Our entrees (New York strip for me, gnocchi for my wife) we’re expertly prepared (I told Kayla I wanted medium rare, cheating more to the rare side. She suggested “rare plus” which I had never heard of before. It was perfect!). The entrees were very large, leaving plenty for us to take home (and Kayla also suggested the best way to reheat our leftovers for the best results!) Thursday night drink special was Long Island Iced Teas for just $5. We both had them. My wife had two! Not in some tiny glass to justify the low price, it was served in a pint beer glass and very boozy. I personally prefer them with a little more sour mix, but not complaining. I also wanted a Manhattan. Kayle asked if I wanted it smoked (had never even heard of that), so of course I tried it. She smoked it right at the table with a mesquite smoke. If I had one suggestion it would be to perhaps offer a few dessert options. If there had been some, we would have extended our stay and probably had more drinks also. Wonderful overall evening, which we will repeat, I’m sure.

Very clean, very organized place. Great attention to detail. The server was perfect. We each had burgers that were done flawlessly. My only complaint was the Manhattan I ordered. Very weak and a bit watery. The drink and beer menu was interesting with a 1930’s flair. Despite the drink, I’d go back again.

My wife and I were in Washington Pa to see Bret Michael’s on Friday. On our way home we decided to stop and eat here. Awesome place. The waitress was extremely nice. The food was plentiful. We ordered 1 appetizer and 1 meal and we had leftovers. We ordered the crab spinach and artichoke dip and the rueben sandwich. We eat out a lot and the rueben was probably one of the best I ever eaten. The atmosphere was very cool. Speakeasy style. The music was delightful. Not country. I hate that everywhere you go to eat plays country or elevator music so I was happy to hear regular good music, lol. The prices are fair for the portion sizes.

Five stars all the way for 1933! This place nails the hometown bar and grill experience. The dark, shadowy lighting accents are a brilliant touch, adding so much character and a really cozy feel. Our waitress was an absolute delight – super friendly and efficient. But the real star of the show? That smashburger. Seriously, it was fantastic! Easily one of the best I’ve had. If you’re looking for great food, great service, and a fantastic atmosphere, 1933 is your spot.

Second time here last night on a very busy Friday. Bartender offered us a table right away and service was prompt and friendly! We never felt like we waited long for refills or our food. Had the burger special, salmon salad and shrimp diablo for the app – all delish!
