Overall good first experience this weekend. Service was good, maybe slightly understaffed with two folks working the entire place on a busy evening. Wedge salad was fantastic. Mushroom pizza was also marvelous. Sausage and pepper pizza complemented each other well! Only complaint was when paying $25 per pizza, it shouldnt be this bad. I realize it’s part of the cooking style but we both made comment of it really took the flavor of the pizza away. For the prices, was a tad disappointed.

While in town visiting family, we had the chance to have a date night. What an amazing experience and dinner. The staff was incredibly friendly and approachable, the wine choices were delicious, and the food – wow. We’ve never found food so good in this town. It was inventive while being comforting. We got the bruschetta, wedge salad, and two pizzas. We had to keep trying things because everything we ordered was a hit. We got to speak to the owner at length and you could tell the quality of the food and patrons experience was most important. Do not sleep on this place.

We visited for our second time, and first at the new location. Both experiences have been amazing. The share plates and fresh bread are delicious. The pizzas are epic. The potato and sausage and pepper were my favorites. The service was also wonderful, and it’s nice to have the owners interacting and saying hi. Family style is the way to go, just relax and get served delicious food.

Delicious wood fired pizza-we enjoyed the mushroom pizza, paired with fresh draft beer. The crust had a perfect char, and the toppings were plentiful and of high quality cheese and mushroom blend. The house salad was fresh and dressed with a crave-worthy vinaigrette. Service was an ideal experience. Will definitely return on a regular basis.

Definitely worth the drive from Saint Louis to 1929 Pizza & Wine! Their wine selection is excellent and reasonably priced. The service is friendly and attentive, with the owner personally helping serve, host and oversee the operation, it’s an invaluable touch in any restaurant. The pizza is exceptional, with bubbly, chewy dough, great toppings and balanced seasoning. The salads are always fresh and delicious. I love the small menu, allowing each dish to be executed precisely. The share board is fantastic, featuring a whole head of melting roasted garlic, house-whipped fresh ricotta, perfect butter with Maldon salt, local blueberry jam, rustic wood-fired bread and my favorite, warm marinated olives. The atmosphere is warm, inviting and very relaxed. I could always go for a good slice!

Finally tried 1929 Pizza & Wine – hands down the best pizza we’ve had since moving to Illinois last year. We ordered the bread and butter board – the butter is made in house, Garlic and Herb butter, salted butter and a fig butter that was amazing, especially while drinking wine.

We also got two pizzas – the pepperoni and the special – the best way it was explained was it was like dipping a sandwich into pea soup – but it was so much better.

Matt waited on us, and instantly we felt like we belonged and were long time friends. Can’t wait to go back – I can see us there every week!

I rarely write a review, however, I am writing to express my immense satisfaction with your restaurant. All I can say is, WOW. Your establishment truly goes above and beyond to provide exceptional food and service to your customers.

From the moment I stepped in, the atmosphere was incredibly warming and truly set a wonderful vibe. The food was remarkably fresh and incomparable to any other restaurant I’ve visited. The owners’ dedication to providing top-tier service, along with the very attentive servers, made for an outstanding experience. If you want a taste of authentic Neapolitan pizza , this is definitely the place to go.

If anyone is in Edwardsville area , I would confidently argue that this restaurant is hands down the best to visit. Thank you for such a memorable dining experience, we will definitely be back!

This is the best pizza I have ever had. The wine selection is amazing. The owners are some of the nicest people you could ever have running a high quality local restaurant. I will never say no to eating here. The Italian beef pizza is fantastic.

This is going to be long winded – but SOOO deserving…
An amazing pizza and wine spot that knocks it out of the park, the neighborhood and the state!
My only complaint is this is 40 miles from me…although my butt could not handle being closer…I’m popping buttons already after the beet and olive bruschetta, Caesar salad, sausage and pepper pizza and canoli, oh but don’t forget like 4 glasses of delicious wines (yeah, tried multiples, because why not!)
I loved seeing such a different bruschetta offering and it looks like that’s a special and this changes, so excited to see what the next one is.
The Caesar salad was baby romaine tossed in the most delicious home made dressing and topped with roasted bread crumbs.
Let’s get to the pizza…I knew when we walked in from the crowded tables and smell in the air this was a home run, but then saw pizzas being delivered to the tables and almost cried. I looked at my hubby and we both knew THIS was going to be the pizza place to end them all. I don’t get the love of cracker dough and provel and thankfully neither does 1929!!! This place takes pride and time in creating the bread and dough here and man does it show.
The crust had beautiful bubbles that they know better not to pop and parts of this beautiful pie gets a little charred from their expertly cooked pizza whisperer who monitors that wood fired oven
Perfectly seasoned homemade sausage, bursts of tomato bites, the right amount of mozzarella lay on top of the most wonderful chewy, crisp pillowy crust. No joke, I wanted to stand up and start clapping, throw streamers and cry at the same time. We met the owners and turned into giddy children in the presence of greatness.
Make a reservation, because they sell out! We didn’t have one and he was gracious to give us a table, but he ran out after we got there, so will reserve the next time we go because we want like 4 pizzas and that wasn’t possible that night.
Obviously we will be back and will bring an army of NON provel lovers.
Update:
Have been twice more, once having a birthday party and tried family style, so fun, highly recommend, and again for a going away party. At this point we’ve tried every pizza but 1! Continuously delicious and fresh! The crust and toppings are just perfection!!!

A nice place for a date night! The inside is pretty nice and the food seemed to be VERY fresh, it was a nice change. The bread was 10/10 but to someone on the pickier side, the butters were just okay. I believe the butters were sea salt, bacon and chive and then orange with some sort of nut and to me the orange was by far the best! We got two pizzas as they said the pizzas were on the smaller side. The potato pizza was definitely different but super yummy! Wine seemed about to be average of wine at a restaurant. The waitress was super nice! I would definitely go without the cannoli next time. Minus a star for slightly over the top prices and weird days/hours.
