Really cute place with TONS of choices! We didn’t get here until about 12:30 on a Sunday and they were already sold out of several of the pastries, but I can understand why. My son got the last coco-guava and I got one of the last 3 guava cheese and they are so fresh and nice filling.
The building looks so small, but it’s deceptively big inside and very nicely laid out.
My son ordered the Medianoche and said the bread was very fresh, lots of meat, and even the mustard was really good. My husband got a chicken and a shrimp empanada. The chicken was very full, but a little dry. The avocado sauce it came with helped it a lot. The shrimp was very good even though he was surprised the pieces of shrimp were so tiny. I got the queso fritos and they were amazing! I’m guessing they are just deep fried with no breading and the guava sauce is delightful even though I was surprised it was cold. The girls working here are so friendly and helpful…I’m loving this place!

This Cuban cafe has delicious pastries and wonderful Cuban coffee. The staff is excellent! They were friendly, helpful and happy to answer questions about menu items. The cortadito — while served in a larger size than I’m used to — was amazing!

This small establishment provides rich flavors of Cuba. A tribute to Cuban heritage. The history of this place honors the journey of Mario Alvarado and his wife as they fled Cuba in 1961, to the United States where they found opportunity and safety. 1928 Bistro was created by their grand daughter.
The vibrant interior colors transports one back through the years. The aroma of freshly brewed espresso made my hubby order coffee.
My son ordered Cuban sandwiche, I always default to empanadas, hubby ordered beef burger. All were quite delicious

The best Cuban sandwich I have ever had. Bread was excellent and pulled pork was really moist and delicious !! Also bought a chicken empanada and again it exceeded expectations just like the Cuban sandwich. My wife and I split it and was just the right size. (New years resolution was to watch portion size ✔️)

A casual and friendly environment that serves home-made quality Cuban foods. We enjoyed eating their sandwiches, rice platters, and empanadas.

The food is amazing, most authentic to cuban food. The coffee is brewed in one of the best ways possible, giving it superior taste to other coffee methods. The medianoche sandwich is one of my favorites and they give big portions. Recommend coming here around breakfast or lunch.

Came in with my husband and toddler and we had a great experience. We are from the area and haven’t tried out this place. So glad we did! I got the rice plate with ropa vieja. So tasty and tender. Great service as well. Very kind and greeted immediately. Will be back and would recommend!

We had the Cuban sandwich spicy and the Elena Ruth sandwich with Brie cheese added. The Cuban sandwich was very flavorful, especially compared to other Cuban sandwiches we’ve had in the area that were dry and bland. The Cuban sandwich here was moist, savory, and had a little bit of flare to it as we ordered it spicy style.
The Elena Ruth sandwich was very unique and very sweet. If you have a sweet tooth, this is the sandwich you must try for sure!
The coffee was good and tasted strong.
The tres leches was extremely moist and even had a little bit of milk leftover at the bottom of the bowl. If you like you tres leches very moist, then you must give one of these desserts a try.
The people working the counter were nice and helpful.

I visited 1928 Cuban Bistro twice during my trip to Amelia Island, and it was a delightful experience both times. They offer a wide range of authentic Cuban items, which made it hard to choose! The yuca fries and tostones were incredibly fresh and paired perfectly with their flavorful sauce. I also tried the veggie empanadas with rice and beans, and they were packed with amazing flavor. The Cuban latte was a nice touch, and the sweet plantains had just the right balance of sweetness. Feee parking , ample sitting for dine in and very helpful staff. It’s a must-visit spot, especially for their snack items—highly recommended!
