This place brings back memories. It’s set up and character is similar to what was here for years but just updated. The food is phenomenal and they have a great selection. My Emerald Pear Martini cocktail was incredible. The Brussel sprouts are delicious and cooked perfectly. I was lucky enough to get the last Beef Stroganoff dinner they had! They do have a cute outdoor seating area, bar seating as well as dining room. We are going back for dessert soon!

We really liked the feel of downtown Newark and this place, being part of the square, was really appealing. We came in as a group of four and tried a selection of their seasonal offerings.
While waiting we were provided with a bread plate which was a sliced baguette slathered with cheese and herbs.
The two appetizers we got included the edamame and the sweet potato pierogies. The edamame came with sliced onions and a miso, fish sauce sauce which was nice. The pierogies were fried and super sweet. They should be labeled a dessert. Also, I would have preferred that they not have fried them as they could then have served them warm.
For our entrees we got the Halibut, Sea Bass, Salmon. and Chicken Harrisa. Each came with different sides and each was beautifully presented. Flavorwise. They were all superb!
We declined desserts because we were stuffed.

Perfect for a romantic dinner or special occasion. Worth the price. The decor is tasteful with a nod to it’s history with paneled walls and warm lighting. The space feels intimate and classy. I had the sea bass and charred green beans with beurre blanc and my husband had the filet minion with beurre blanc. Both were cooked to perfection and the sauce added richness, and brought out the natural taste of the quality produce. The service was friendly, attentive, and informative. I look forward to returning and enjoying more of the varied menu. I highly recommend for a special night out.

The food is very mediocre for a high cost definitely not worth the money could have went to Texas Roadhouse for better quality food at a lower price now they did offer free dessert since it was our anniversary atmosphere wasn’t bad was very casual, it seemed to be a high class restaurant needing reservations but when we walked in it was very casual definitely looked like a old bar. Waitress was very nice she was amazing. But everything else was eh not up to par definitely won’t be coming back

Ashley provided great service for 4 diners. We ordered fried green tomatoes as appetizer, which we enjoyed. Entrees were the Sunday special prime rib, fish & chips, 8 oz beef tenderloin and prime rib ravioli. All entrees were plentiful. 3 diners enjoyed their selection. My prime rib ravioli’s sauce was heavy for me. We shared 1 creme brulee which was good, but very sweet. Service was A+.

We had dinner before heading to the Midland Theatre. The food and service were awesome. We could easily have filled up on fried cheese curds (with fig jelly– yummy!) and their bread before we got to the entrees. Fortunately, we saved room for everything, including dessert. Steak entrees were excellent, and carrot cake (so moist), creme brulee (got the 12-year-old’s enthusiastic recommendation), and the best and creamiest peanut butter pie were a great finish to our special dinner! Everything was delicious, and the price was what I would expect for a special evening out. Our server was friendly and attentive, and they all got us out in plenty of time for the show. It was very busu, and the crowd was quite lively! Thank you!!!

For such a great environment and history, the food was sub par. We returned 3 of the 4 dishes, all overcooked. Wagu beef meatballs destroyed, Caesar salad tasting like fish oil, not parm, burned calamari. Lovely waitress, and we tipped her because it wasn’t her fault. I was embarrassed that I recommended this place to my friend. I’m not sure who is cooking, have they tasted? There is no respect for fine dining. The grandpa was eating yogurt out of a cup in the bar…..

We were in town for a race, and I met friends here. GREAT Local find!!! The food was delicious, and very fairly priced for what you get. The Service and atmosphere were impeccable, and the Chef came out to our table and after talking wanted to make something special for us. The Crab cake he made was amazing. Whenever we come back to the area, we will 100% be stopping back in.

Me and my date were super excited to try out this place seeing it had a lot of unique dishes to offer. Started out strong but gradually declined.
Wait staff was great. It wasn’t a busy night so we got seated rather quickly (also made a reservation ahead of time just to be safe). Our waitress Jamie was super nice, checked on us throughout the night and was able to give us some wine recommendations.
We ordered Salmon Rangoons for apps and it tasted great by itself and with the special “bam bam sauce”. This was part of the uniqueness that we were excited to experience. We had also gotten Lobster Bisque and it was very creamy, nicely seasoned, tasted absolutely amazing. Presentation on everything was nicely done as well.
Our entrees and sides was where it got a little rough. We went on a Sunday night so it was recommended that we must try their Prime Rib that was only available on Sundays. The texture of the meat seemed like it was best served as a part of a roast rather than a steak. The edges were pretty rough and chewy as well. My date ordered carrots and a loaded potato to go with it. Carrots were great in his eyes, had not gotten to the potato since was a pretty big cut of steak.
I had gotten the Prime Rib Ravioli, which had a very creamy sauce and ground prime rib as the filling for the raviolis. Loved the sauce, didn’t care too much for the extremely thick and excess dough. Meat filling also reminded me of meatloaf texture-wise. I had also gotten truffle fries as a side but they were not very crispy.
I was a little disappointed seeing as there was a lot of uniqueness and variety in the menu options, but I didn’t expect the main entrees to be the quality that we experienced, especially when we had paid about $120 here for a date night. No desserts were ordered since we were a little disheartened after the entrees. Maybe the other cuts of steak would have been a better option.

We have visited 1922 on the square in Newark twice. Both times we sat outside on a lovely night. One of my favorite locations to have dinner looking over the historic courthouse. I have to say that the service is great here. They moved a bunch of tables to accommodate our large party. The food is spectacular. They bring you the best garlic bread that was part of the menu of a diner that used to be on the square. The salmon was moist and well seasoned. The potato side dish with malt vinegar is a must order. Everyone loved their food. The prices are in the higher end but not terrible.
