This was our first time here our experience was good this was our 20th anniversary and we always drove by this location but never had a chance to go inside. My wife ordered the duck and I ordered the ribeye with truffle Mac nc cheese and wild mushroom risotto. This particular dinner we had was good but just lacking a tiny bit of love. The risotto was flavored ever so perfectly and the truffle Mac n cheese was amazing I was confused how the sides had more flavor than the protein but its ok it happens. My wife’s duck was very chewy and gamy we had duck before but this time it was just to earthy. The steak was chared to protection with beautiful marbling and cooked very well the only thing it was lacking flavor now we finished our plates and paid our bill but for the price i feel the steak needed a glaze or a sauce ever so slightly I would of hoped it to have more love and and attention to detail. On the flipping the maitre William was finnaminal he was every where I watch how he moved around the restaurant there not 1 table he didnt know about even at the bar and there was no waiting as well. I will be back to try again I feel every location deserves a redue at times other than that thank you for the experience

Good times, pretty good service overall, the waiter was very friendly and helpful. We did have one person at our party who had to get up to get water, and mine was near empty by the time someone filled it. We asked the water person for bread, which he didn’t bring us. When we told the waiter he said they would put some in the oven as they were out. So we finally got it right around the same time as our meals.

Everyone enjoyed their meals. I am usually a ribeye guy, went NY Strip tonight, which was huge, and good, though I would have rather had gone ribeye. Maybe it was a little over medium rare, and I asked for medium rare. I guess maybe I should have asked for closer to rare with this chef. Just not as flavorful nor as tender.nOne person at the table ordered a chicken salad, which took forever. They also took probably at least 15 minutes to get our bill figured out, we had some gift cards. I don’t think it should take 15 minutes though? It’s just math right?

It was a sweet time. The food is good, but it’s not as good as the price point, nor as good as Gardner’s or Ricardo’s.

The desserts are from Jean-Pierre’s Three16, and they were very good. Will probably go back to JP316 next.

We came in for a date night wanting to try something new. We had reservations, but the hostess had mixed us up with another, so we still waited 20 mins before being seated. The food was good, but they were out of baked potatoes and Truffle Mac was just plain flavored. Steak was perfect- cooked and flavors! Beautiful presentation. Overall would dine here again!

I would need another few days of poetic contemplation in order to find the right words to describe the amazing, and ethereal dining experience we had. Sarah, the bar manager (and our angel of the night),hosted our first time gourmet adventure. The lighting was warm and inviting. The front of the house staff dressed to impress. We were celebrating our one year wedding anniversary. We chose the absolute perfect setting to celebrate our love. The food: truffle butter mac & cheese, a juicy pork chop,a decadent elk tenderloin and shrimp skewers. We were still high for two days after our night at 1889. We still wake up in the middle of the night asking each other when will be the next time we go…

I really wanted to recommend this steakhouse, but just can’t based on the price and wait times.

To quickly sum it up, if you’re at a steakhouse for a steak, which you probably are and want some sides, you’ll likely be paying around $120 for your plate. (not including drinks)

Example: Aged Ribeye ($80) + Steak Butter ($6) + Mushrooms ($10) + Side of Veggies ($15) + Mashed Potatoes ($13) = $124

For wait times, we waited 15 minutes (with a reservation). Then it was about 1 hour before we got our single appetizer. Then another 30 minutes for the main courses to arrive.

At this point we were all starving, and with the sides as shared dishes, our plates seemed barren with the small steaks (see images).

We had a wonderful dining experience at 1889 Prime Steakhouse. Our server, Micah, was very nice and personable, and the entire staff was attentive and prompt throughout the evening.

We started with seasonal cocktails, French onion soup, and a seasonal salad with blackberry balsamic—everything was fresh and flavorful. For the main course, we enjoyed garlic mashed potatoes, a perfectly cooked surf and turf with filet mignon and lobster tail, and a ribeye steak. Every bite was delicious. Bread at the start of the meal was a nice touch.

The atmosphere was quiet and relaxing, making it easy to talk and enjoy the evening. Reservations made the experience seamless with no wait time. Parking was also convenient—there’s free designated parking on the north side of the building, with the entrance on the east side by the ramp.

Overall, an excellent experience with outstanding food, service, and atmosphere. We’ll definitely be back!

My husband and I chose this restaurant for a quiet date night, and in many ways it was an excellent choice. The setting is beautiful, with lovely views, soft lighting, and a peaceful atmosphere that feels well suited for an intimate evening out. The service was attentive and professional throughout the meal.

We both ordered the 45-day aged ribeye. While the steak was flavorful and tender, it was cooked slightly beyond the requested medium rare and arrived closer to medium. It was also a bit under-seasoned for our taste. That said, the quality of the cut itself was evident. The crab dip appetizer was outstanding, as were the truffle mac and cheese and mushroom risotto. The peach cobbler dessert was truly phenomenal.

The primary disappointment came at the end of the meal. We requested that our leftovers be boxed to take home, but not all of the remaining food was packed. In my case, more than half of my steak was missing; only the uncut portion was boxed, while the portion I had sliced—though barely eaten—was not included. Additionally, the uneaten sides from my plate were not packed. Each item was boxed seperately in a tiny brown box. Had we been a dating couple rather than a married pair, this oversight could have resulted in one person not receiving all of their meal. I would have also preferred a single container for my meal and another for my husband, again a dating couple would have not each received their portions from their plates.

At a $400 price point for two, these details do matter. It would have been appreciated if the staff had clarified how we wanted the leftovers packaged, particularly since the sides are served family-style rather than individually. Boxing items per person would have ensured clarity and convenience. That being said, this is not a deal breaker to prevent us from returning again but I will be sure to provide instructions next time on packing up our leftovers better.

Overall, this is a very good restaurant with an inviting ambiance and strong culinary offerings. However, at a premium price level, attentiveness to small but meaningful details can make a significant difference in the overall experience.

The atmosphere is amazing. The food was fantastic. We went for our anniversary and they took care of us. I highly recommend the Tomahawk steak. A lot of places cut the bone before serving. 1889 prime served it exactly like I expected with the bone. #reviewsbyelijah

Came here for my cousins bachelorette dinner, we knew this place was more upscale and pricey when we came. I got the Ribeye, Garlic mashed potatoes and a drink that i cant remember the name of my bill was $120. The steak was okay, mashed potatoes were a bit dry. Drink was good and strong. We tried the wild mushroom risotto, it was so good. The truffle mac and cheese was not good. Not creamy at all, sauce was lacking creaminess and flavor. Salmon was dry. Dungenous crab dip was good, needed a little salt and pepper. The rolls were ok. Overall just very underwhelming. our server was nice.

Came here to celebrate a special occasion and was disappointed. It is one of the only fine dining spots in Olympia.

The food was mediocre. Everything we got was under seasoned. My fish was cold and the teriyaki tasted bland. My significant other got the Elk with Juniper sauce and it was cold and bland. We were excited to try it as we love elk. The steak and elk both needed more salt, smokey flavor or something to kick it up a notch. The saving grace was the side dishes, we ordered fries and mash. I guess cant go wrong with those. Overall disappointed for paying $300+. The service was slow as well, but our server did an amazing job checking in. Would like to see the restaurant have free complementary bread or something before main meals. Overall the little extras would of been better for how much people pay to eat here. I would think they offer more amenities. or special occasion perks.
