This restaurant is amazing. Excellent food and vibe. More fine dining than casual fare, but worth it. Everything is fresh, local fish and shellfish. We had the catch of the day (mahi mahi), conch fritters, fried scallop plate and yellowfin tuna. We ordered the key lime pie, coconut cheesecake and creme de caramel for dessert. Definitely put this place in your itinerary when you are in Cruz Bay. You won’t be sorry.

An incredible restaurant with a wonderful range of delicious dishes and quality local ingredients. 1864 is conveniently located inside Mongoose Junction and a has an inviting atmosphere and decor, whether you are sitting at a table or at the bar. The menu has a number of excellently cooked dishes with regular specials, including lobster, and crab can be added to any entrée all at a very fair price for the Saint John. There is also an excellent list of cocktails, including the Bird of Paradise, and a well thought out wine list. The staff’s friendly service helps make this a very memorable dining experience.

It’s a very chill vibe, and delicious food. I’ve gone several times and always enjoy what I get. Today we got the lobster Rangoon’s, Wakame salad, and some rolls. I did not like the lobster in the rolls. However, the spicy crab was amazing!
The cocktails are also fabulous. I loved the birds of paradise.

One of the BEST meals we have ever had! Anywhere! Highly recommend. My wife had the colossal crab app (so much crab) and pork chop for her meal. I had Oyster Rockefeller and the tuna. Every dish was well balanced and delicious!

If you’d like to enjoy great ambiance with terrible food and service you have found your spot. Ordered the market fish (seared wahoo) and the fried scallops. The scallops had no breading and tasted like Crisco and Morton’s. We are notoriously not picky people so even with all that they were almost passable. The fish was the real issue. I’ve had better fish caught out of a drainage ditch. Whatever chef was back there boiled it down to the consistency of rubber. I think a medieval peasant who’s never seen the ocean could have cooked this fish better. Even if they couldn’t at least I wouldn’t have paid $50. The cherry on top was that all this expensive cardboard was served up and waited on with a scowl and a feeling of indifference. Our server was visibly having a terrible day. They consistently forgot our drinks and ignored us. With all the excellent reviews we expected more but as far as I’m concerned this place can kick rocks.

Waitress was very snotty. We had questions about the menu, but nothing absurd, and each time we didn’t respond to her fast enough she’d smile the most fake smile and say something rude, like the smile was supposed to make up for it. She was especially rude to my husband, who had planned this date night for us. Super upsetting when you pay so much for a meal. I heard another waitress be rude to an older couple that comes in often too, and you could tell the woman was not impressed. No matter how good the food is, you shouldn’t be rude.

Food was good, but not as good as you’d expect for a restaurant like this. There are places with better food, far better service, and better atmospheres on the island.

This was the last restaurant my boyfriend and I visited during our trip to St. John, and it was a great way to end the vacation. We had a reservation but arrived early and were seated right away. We chose to sit at the bar, where Moe took excellent care of us.

For appetizers, we had the clam chowder, delicious! For our entrées, my boyfriend had the chicken with mac & cheese w. a side of buttered crab and I went with the Caribbean-spiced fresh catch of the day (I chose the tofu option instead of swordfish).

To drink, he had a Jack and Coke, and I had the Bird of Paradise cocktail—so good! The restaurant itself was beautiful, the service was outstanding, and we left happy. Highly recommend!

Ate here 3 times while visiting. Each time was great! The Mac & Cheese is the best I’ve ever had. Fresh catch of the day was perfect in every way. Love the accompaniments with it too!
Martini with their hand stiffen blue cheese olives – WOW!!!

I was very excited to eat here. We didn’t have a reservation, but sat at the bar. The plane was empty, but was told multiple times by 3 ppl, that we had to be gone in 2 1/5 hours. The service stinks. Mark behind the bar def lacked any service/ social skills. We could of easily been out 45 mins earlier, like he wanted, if he actually cared about his patrons… but the old fashion was delicious! Just underwhelmed and quite disappointed.
