Aloha First of all…thank you for finding us and for checking us. I’m so glad. I own this small aloha place with my husband, experienced Japanese Chef of over-30-years. He puts his “SOUL” into every piece of sushi. You can experience AUTHENTIC SUSHI. I’m spreading “OMOTENASHI” which is Japanese way of warmhearted hospitality. (To make customers happy/smile/comfortable/relax) I put all my “LOVE” into every little things to make my customers smile. I’m always taking care of my customers like my guests who came to my house (which is beach vibes full of aloha) for dinner. I’m looking for seeing you at my lovely restaurant Mahalo Satoe

Reviews
Don’t be in a rush and take it all in as it is the perfect combination of Aloha and authentic Japanese cuisine and feel. It’s a husband and wife team that are truly interested in you enjoying the experience.
It’s our favorite place. Go here for the experience and the best sushi we have had… and we have tried them all. It’s small and intimate, so make reservations. Truly a special place.
ATMOSPHERE:
They’re located within the South Maui Center, a multi-building complex that also houses their neighbor, Fabiani’s Bakery & Pizzeria. The all-indoor seating area is bright and clean with a beach theme. A small counter area seats about 10 souls along with four 4-toppers. Muffled pop music played overhead while the other diners ate silently. Luckily, we brought some life to the joint, LOL!
MENU:
Sake, Japanese shochu/whiskey/beer/wine, Japanese apps & seafood apps, lots of sushi, a sole ramen, miso soup.
BEVERAGE:
Sararito Shita Umesyu
I’ve never had plum wine before and have been missing out! The wine is served on ice, a bit sweet but was balanced out nicely with a bit of saltiness if you will and wasn’t strong in the alcohol department. Oddly, my two glasses differed in pour sizes with the second glass having considerably more.
FOOD:
Shoyu Ramen
Other reviews on this dish weren’t spectacular, but everyone has a different palate, so I had to try it for myself. Their version has a lot of potential but fell short in a few areas. First off, the portion was a bit small for the price. Secondly and worst of all, the delicate broth was lukewarm. Ugh! Why can’t people understand that a hot broth combined with room temperature noodles makes for a lukewarm bowl?! There were positives though, such as the fresh-tasting bamboo shoots, the super tender chashu and the perfectly cooked noodles. Some might say the broth has no flavor but in this case it allowed for the eggy flavor of the noodles to stand out, IMO. I’ve had a similar light broth at Momofuku in Washington D.C. but theirs was worlds better as it was served piping hot.
Salmon Skin Salad
My friend’s dish. She enjoyed it for the most part but did state that there was an overload of onions.
SERVICE:
The place was dead so we were seated immediately. Our server was very friendly, professional and checked on us often. Thank you’s and mannerisms were bountiful in that Japanese culture sort of way.
OVERALL:
Extensive sushi menu, great service, mediocre ramen due to temperature.
We sat at the counter, very nicely decorated, very clean, calm beachy feel. We ordered many different items and loved all of it. So beautiful, fresh and delicious, excellent service, so courteous and prompt. A very warm, inviting and comfortable place.
This is a truly excellent sushi restaurant, not a trendy all you can place. The chef is very talented and his wife (server) is amazingly polite and an excellent server and support to the chef.
Parking was no problem although the spaces are small, restrooms available and handicap accessible.
Be sure to ask the market price before ordering those items, if you’re watching cost…..you could be surprised by a very costly uni.
The chef and his wife are the only servers and one feels that they are doing their job with love. My wife was pregnant at our stay on Maui and so she got good advice what was possible to eat from the menu.
It would be awesome if they could manage to get another facility with maybe a good view on the ocean or somewhere more reachable but apart from that it was the best sushi on Maui. We came back on the next day 😉
