We were in Newport late afternoon and found Zurita while shopping in Nye Beach. We knew we were in for something special as soon as we arrived, and the inviting rustic walkup with lit trees and an enclosed streetside patio drew us in to what was a lovely dining experience. The interior is colorful and authentic — think Spanish country home. The owner and wait staff were just as welcoming, and we immediately knew we had picked the right spot.

We enjoyed fantastic house-made spiced tempranillo sangrias and sampled a few tapas, set to soft Spanish guitar. Make sure you try the delicious tortilla de patatas! The shrimp and chorizo pasta was spiced just right, and we finished with a chocolate hazelnut torta.

Overall an excellent experience. Unassuming and authentic, Zurita is a sensory pleasure. Don’t miss it.

Update… Returned for a perfect February evening to take a friend to sample Zurtita’s wonderful tapas. The tempranillo sangria is just special — so a pitcher was in order. We sampled the warm rustic bread and very unique crispy calamari to start (never before seen this amazing floret preparation), followed by two orders (yes, it’s that good) of the perfect tortilla patatas y gambas al ajillo, and added a shared order of beautifully prepared seared Alaskan scallops. Finish with bacon-wrapped blue cheese dates and an exquisite carajillo and you are in Zurita heaven. Another amazing meal.

Katie our server was an absolute DOLL. Friendly, kind and helpful. The food was delicious. They use dry aged beef in their burgers and it elevates the flavor to a whole new level. Coupled with the burrata cheese and black aioli it was a dance party in my mouth. I am salivating as I write this review. I must, no, I NEED TO GO AGAIN. We also got the calamari and croquettes. Very tasty, very yummy. Cooked splendiferously!

What a lovely dining experience so reminiscent of an evening in Spain! We had a lush full bodied rioja that accompanied every tapas we had perfectly! My favorite dish was the mushroom croquettas! The flavor was exceptional. The rustic bread lightly dressed with olive oil and the lamb meatballs were also delicious! Our deserts were a perfect end to a fun dining experience! We enjoyed our server and the atmosphere of entire restaurant! We will definitely return!

My favorite tapas restaurant at the Coast! Every dish I ordered was a delightful culinary surprise. The confit artichoke is my favorite (I ate it before I could take a picture), the duck pate came with an incredible peach compote with spices and sherry! The soup of the day was everything I needed for comfort in November (orca bean!), and the best pistachios ice cream with aberquino olive oil from a farm in Oregon (olive trees produce delicious oil here in Oregon!!). Great ambience and service, check the menu before you come, it changes from time to time! Oh, organic red wine too from Oregon!

A jewel in Nye Beach! Absolutely love this fine dining eatery! The simple, clean and delicious flavors of Spain had me floating on Cloud 9! If we had the time, we would have dined here again during our stay, and at least, have the wonderful memory of the experience. Such a warm and inviting place to land during a long coastal trip. Thanks Dawn and crew! The wine selection is amazing too! Grab some cute little edible boutique items by the register! We did!

Stumbled onto Zurita while in Nye Beach- so glad we did! Easily one of the best culinary experiences on the Oregon Coast! We had the carrots, calamari, tuna salad, and crab ravioli- everything was fabulous- fresh ingredients, thoughtfully prepared and presented, and also good variety of dishes to choose from. Wish we had another day to go back and try other dishes- phenomenal food in a unique setting!

We actually ended up coming here twice.

The first night we arrived in Newport, this was actually the closest restaurant to the place we were staying and the menu was intriguing enough we decided to try it. It didn’t hurt that it was pouring outside and we walked there.

The special soup that night was the beet and ginger, and the ginger was far more prominent than I’d expected. It was wonderful and blended smooth, which I rarely get with a beet soup. The mushroom and onion croquettes were lovely, rich, small, and crisp and hot from the fryer. I was surprised that the seared scallops weren’t as hot but the peas in cream were sweet. The green salad had good goat cheese, lots of sliced apple, crisp radish slices and was perfectly dressed. And finishing with the chocolate raspberry dome was perfect.

The second time we went was just two days later with a couple that wanted to try things. So we shared everything. The bean and chorizo soup was savory goodness. The crispy calamari was just that, perfectly crispy baby octopus and big tender rings of calamari were lightly breaded and beautifully fried. The tortilla was tender and tasty. The artichoke star was easy to split four ways and I loved the olive oil and seasoning for it. The duck breast was a perfect pink, the couscous was toasted and cooked toothsome. The shrimp pasta was creamy and tasty. We ended with the chocolate hazelnut torte and the lemon meringue and enjoyed it all. It was lovely being able to share everything and the service have us plenty of silverware and plates to try it all.

What a fabulous restaurant! Three of us had a delicious dinner here. Highly recommend the red sangria (perfectly balanced- not sweet); mushroom and onion tapas; and carrot tapas. The lemon meringue dessert was also fantastic. Service was just right. The decor, both inside and outside (gorgeous patio dining), was very pretty. Parking is on the street.

Pleasantly surprised by the sheer quality of the service, food, and amazing atmosphere. We enjoyed and shared (as tapas) the yummy scallops, duck mousse, tortilla, artichoke heart and chocolate hazelnut torta. The drinks were also amazing. Although we’re not from the area, if we ever find ourselves in Newport again, we will definitely be coming back.

I ended up going here twice in a four night stay in Nye Beach. The food was exceptional, the first night I had the tortilla de patatas and roasted carrots with goat cheese, the second time the scallops with peas and artichoke.

It is a really warm, welcoming place and the servers were very proud of the food which helped with the recommendations. The second night had live acoustic music – which was really nice, but not so overpowering I could read my book.
