Zumo Poke bowl and twin Salmon Donburi were amazing, the fish was very fresh. It was very apparent the owners and chefs take pride in the food served and customer satisfaction. Will come again when visiting Kauai! Thank you!

Not bad sushi, not great. About what I’d expect of an average mainland strip mall. There’s nothing egregiously bad about Zumo but at the time of writing this review the average rating here stands at 4.8, which may give you unrealistic expectations of a hidden authentic culinary gem.
I tried a selection of nigiri described as their omakase equivalent. It arrived about 20 minutes after my companion’s passable but a little too sweet pad thai entree (yes this is the kind of sushi place that also serves Thai food — Kauai has at least 3 other Thai and Sushi combo restaurants, which all serve both thai and sushi but never try to make fusion dishes). The rice seemed a little cold and dense and underseasoned. There was no accompanying ginger. The nigiris mostly were topped with various sweet, spicy, or otherwise suspiciously strongly flavored sauces, which tended to mask whatever the underlying fish cuts might have tasted like. That said, the miso soup was good.
We came on a busy evening and the place was packed so perhaps the staff was just overwhelmed. But I doubt we will be returning anytime soon. It’s not a bad place, just not compellingly great like Blue Wave. Got to hand it to the owners though — they have a great location for foot traffic. And their business model seems to be working just fine for them judging by how full the place was.

Amazing experience! The food was outstanding, the place felt cozy, and the service was excellent. But the real highlight is the food — the sushi was delicious and the fried rice was honestly one of the best we’ve ever had. If you visit Kauai, this is definitely a must-try spot.

Everything that we ordered was amazing! Must visit when in Kauai. Tuna Tartarte, Carparccio, White sand, creamy scallop and Summer in Chicago rolls were very flavorful and fresh. If I had to choose a favorite in the rolls it would be a tie between the Summer in Chicago and Creamy Scallops. I recommend to try them all!

INCREDIBLE, the sushi and service was 10/10. Make sure and stop to eat at this hidden gem. We ate sushi across the island and nothing came close to taste and price at Zumo.

A friend who lives in Kapaa recommend this place, it did not disappoint! Our meal was some of our favorite sushi we have had on island this trip. The Toro was expertly prepared, the japanese scallop was so nice and fresh. I’m not as big of a salmon fan as my wife, but the salmon lover roll was delicious. Don’t miss out!
