Mrs. Jan was super friendly! She was very knowledgeable about the menu, and the multiple variations you could choose, she suggested the #2 lunch special my choice was Fried Chicken, field peas, turnip greens, rice w/gravy, and a corn muffin; it was a terrific meal with leftovers to go. I personally have never had turnip greens that good in a restaurant before. I didn’t have to use salt/pepper on anything as everything was seasoned perfectly. We live in Florida but Zip’s is now on our list of places to stop during our travels.

This is going to be an honest review based on the burger, fries and onion rings. 1- not sure how this place won best burger? The burger is just good I mean yeah but absolutely tasteless besides the sauce that they have which made it decently good. The fries and onion rings are my biggest complaint- absolutely tasteless no seasoning what’s so ever and after waiting 32 minutes they weren’t even hot. So I was pretty disappointed in this place. All of the workers were super nice and helpful but the food is just not their burger at least. I would not waste your time going out of your way to try the burger.

Our son told us when traveling through Magee to stop at Zip’s Cafe for a delicious hamburger. I got the cheeseburger and homemade onion rings. My husband got the vegetable plate. They have homemade Zip Sauce and homemade Ranch Dressing. Both meals were very reasonably priced and all the food was delicious! The service was great and everyone so friendly. We will definately be coming back!

We stopped by this place during a road trip. It’s quite popular, though the restaurant feels a bit dated. The server was great and very friendly. I was surprised to see that many people still paid cash for their bills in 2026—glad they also accept credit cards. The food was okay but not particularly impressive. The fries were not very warm, and the fried fish was a bit oily. Still, it’s a decent stop when you’re on the road.

First time customer and it was a HUGE disappointment! My family and I had dinner there tonight and none of our food was anything to brag about. Fried catfish was mushy, onion rings mushy and greasy and loaded baked potato was served cold. We will never be going back again, they should have paid us to eat their food tonight.

Wow! I thought Big Jim’s in Mendenhall was the best until I ate the Zip burger, and had the onion rings! Just wow! Y’all gotta come! Becca, our server, was the best! Wow!

Just had the cheeseburger with everything on it and it was the best burger I’ve ever had! Was not dried out, very juicy , not too messy , good flavor. Pairs well with the battered fries. I’m not a fan of their tenders but if i ever want a good burger I’ll go there!
