Zhongzhong Noodles – Roosevelt Island

  4.2 – 295 reviews   • Chinese noodle restaurant

Inspired by Chongqing city in Sichuan province, one of the great food capitals of China, ZHONGZHONG NOODLES brings authentic flavors and signature dishes to New York. From our Zajiang Noodles and Braised Pork Rice Bowl to the Spicy Braised Beef Noodles we serve a selection of our favorite noodle and rice bowls. A noodle bar at heart, ZHONGZHONG NOODLES grew from our love of the family run restaurants of Szechuan. Intimate, warm, and full of rich flavors. Now in New York we evoke the legacy of these venues and combine with urban design that joins the imagery of the past and aesthetic of today.

A tiny cozy noodle spot on Roosevelt island. The price was very reasonable and the portion is pretty generous. I ordered the tomato beef noodle, and I absolutely destroyed it. The soup was tangy and sweet, and the noodle was soft but chewy. In general I’d definitely recommend this place if you are looking for something comforting to eat.

Had the braised beef noodles, and the seasoning burned my lips for 2 days (not much flavor, just spice) The beef looked nothing like the photo, had this gelatinous stuff around it?? (probably a huge amount of connective tissue or fat) and had a funky smell. Never seen meat like that before.

Counter order place. Not great for large groups, but good for small groups of 2 or less.

Food was really good! Soup dumplings and mapo tofu were great!

Off bat my takeout order didn’t come with egg (even though egg is shown in the picture) so I had to boil my own. Soup base itself was a little watery and honestly kind of flavorless. I get I got the vegetarian option but it just feels like the broth was made without any seasoning though the tomato taste is really strong. Unfortunately, I’ve had better hot pot for less money; and that was deep in Manhattan. Also like where are the noodles? The wood ear mushrooms were pretty good but, again, I’ve had better. I also paid extra for crab meat just to not get it. I’ve been diligently trying to find the best hot pot in NYC and honestly, this might be the worst ive had in my search. Overall, I’d give it a 3.5/10

The food is really good, very authentic, and the szechuan dumplings when they offer them are fantastic. All the noodle dishes are great. Food is prepared slowly, be prepared to wait. Why it’s so slow I don’t quite understand, but it’s been consistent since they opened.

I’ve ordered from here seven times. Sad to say they only exist because they are the only game on the island. Noodles and dumplings taste heated from frozen or ramen packet. Broth has flavor but overdoes the spicy oil so you can’t taste anything. They will not make it less spicy if you ask. If you like good places like White Bear, Noodlecraft, Bund, Yumpling, and Shu Jiao Fu Zhao then you will not like this place. China One may actually be better. Ugh :/

If you’re craving a flavorful and authentic dining experience, Spicy Noodle & Hot Pot is a must-visit! The restaurant offers a diverse selection of spicy noodles and hot pot options that are both delicious and satisfying. The ingredients are fresh, and the flavors are bold and well-balanced.

I arrived at this store at 7:40 PM, and their listed closing time is 8:00 PM. At first, the young lady at the counter said they were only offering takeout, and I agreed, saying I would take a look at the menu. However, an older lady inside suddenly said they were closed and were no longer taking any more orders. I pointed out that they had initially said takeout was available, and their business hours were not yet over. The older lady, with a very bad attitude, kept repeating, “We’re closed, we’re closed.” She even forced me to leave. It’s unbelievable . With service like this, I absolutely do not recommend this place to anyone. I will also leave reviews on Chinese social media platforms like Xiaohongshu to share my experience. Very poor service—avoid this store.

The food was hot and ready to eat when delivered to my door. I would to go to the restaurant next time to check out the ambience.

I ordered the Za Jiang Noodles, spicy wonton in red chili oil (I ordered it extra spicy, which was enough heat but still enjoyable!), and the pork soup dumplings. All were delicious and I would recommend to anyone who’s craving!
