This actually feels more like an izakaya than the ones we had in Philly, especially with the cheap prices, its late hours (open until 2am!) and quite decent options to choose from. Even though this restaurant is not Japanese owned, the vibe is closest to what I would encounter in Japan, no frills and opportunity to enjoy company with some beers and bar food. We particularly enjoyed the fried pork intestines, fried chicken wings, sweet herbal jelly dessert, eggplants and pork ribs! Will definitely come back with friends!

The place was super aesthetic and cozy. It was super quiet because we went at 5PM. It’s not that suitable for a regular meal but I’m assuming if you’re drinking then it’ll be nice. The skewers were above average, nice and juicy, but they didn’t have much complex flavors(like I mentioned more suited to drink with). It’s pretty affordable as a snack but as a dinner not really.

Walked in 1150pm, place is listed open until 2am. Server looked at our party of two and said, “We are not seating any more tables.” Consider changing your Google listing information – and the attitude too. Not even a fake, ” Sorry, we are not seating any more tonight.” For further context, there were diners there and he was leaned over one table gabbing and when we walked in it was like we interrupted their conversation. Lack of hospitality might mean the food is delicious, but I’ll never know.

It’s a Chinese izakaya. So don’t expect Japanese food. In America, if you say izakaya, people expect Japanese food. But in Japan, izakaya is just bar food. And this is what it is, bar food. But Chinese. So, Chinese izakaya.
Great place for drinks, food, and good chill time! My friends and I had a great time ordering a lot of food and drinks. The food was delicious. As people who love pig intestines, they make it delicious to eat with alcohol! And all the other food we ordered too. I don’t have any pics because as soon as the food got to the table, we’d devour it. They have deck of cards for customers to play with. Great idea! Definitely going to come back here with more friends!
And the customer service! Owner was a great guy and the other server was awesome too! Felt welcomed. Thanks for the great time.

Not really an izakaya, it’s Chinese food, and the “yakitori” has Chinese flavors which were very good by the way. I did go thinking I was going to get, actual yakitori but the fact that they were “chuan” was a welcome surprise cuz they are much more difficult to find. I ordered several types, heart, gizzard, beef and lamb, all delicious and tried a few other dishes as well. I’d recommend removing “Izakaya” from their name, it’s misleading, but other than that, the food was great, I’d stop by again next time I’m in Philly.

I’ve been wondering where is “Solo” moved to and they’re finally back in business. I really enjoyed the foods, especially the skewers. This is a go to place if you want good skewers in Philly. I recommend beef and lamb, takoyaki. Drinks are also cheap. However, the music is kinda loud and tables are a little too big for party of 2. Overall, everything is good.

Really good place to go if you want good, cheap food, cheap beer and take your time. The owner is super chill and didn’t mind my friends and I playing Magic:The Gathering at all! We all ordered multiple drinks, skewers and dumplings throughout the two hours we were there and by the end of it we had only racked up about a $60 bill between the 4 of us! Love the atmosphere, love the vibes and love the hospitality 🙂

Great food for a fantastic price. The owner and staff will take your order and politely let you (and your group, if in one) eat and converse in peace, but are still attentive when needed. You may have to peak your head out and wave them over. They’ve been patient when my group and I order some, then add more over time. The skewers are delicious — I especially like the chicken ones. My friend had a soup dish and loved it. They will ask what level of spicy you want, too, so you can customize that. They have a pretty good drink selection, but I haven’t tried much aside the soju yet. It’s cozy and quiet, and the booths give some privacy.
Went for a friend’s graduation party recently and were there basically until closing. We got a bit loud and rowdy, but the owner was nice and kept the water filled as we hung out and didn’t push us to leave right away as we finished up.
And I freaking love the fries. They’re the thickness and crunchiness I like, personally, so I get it as an appetizer.
Overall a nice place that I’m happy to go back to.

Disappointing Experience
Visited late at night and was met with poor service server seemed irritated by my presence. The food took a long time to arrive, and portions were small overpriced, and missing items I ordered. What I did receive was burnt and bland. Maybe it was because it was late night, but overall, it was a bad experience I wouldn’t repeat.

Came here with a few friends for late dinner and service waa great. The sushi was fresh and the variety of drinking options were great. We order several rolls and sushi pieces. It was a great night cap for a girls night out.
