Zhangfei Hotpot in Fremont is an absolute gem! I’ve been searching for authentic, flavorful hotpot in the Bay Area, and this place truly delivers.
We opted for their classic Spicy Mala broth, and it was incredibly aromatic and delicious – perfectly balanced with numbing peppercorns and a rich, spicy kick. It genuinely transported me back to the hotpot experiences I’ve had in China! The selection of ingredients is fantastic; everything from the tripe and duck intestine to the fresh vegetables was high quality and cooked beautifully in the broth.
The sauce bar is incredibly well-stocked, offering a huge variety of condiments to customize your perfect dipping sauce. You can go classic with sesame oil and garlic, or get creative with their extensive options.
The ambiance is also lovely – a clean and comfortable space with a nice blend of traditional and modern decor, making it great for a casual meal or a gathering with friends.
Value for money is excellent too. Considering the quality of the food and the service, I felt it was very reasonably priced.
Overall, I highly recommend Zhangfei Hotpot to anyone looking for an authentic and delicious hotpot experience in Fremont. You won’t be disappointed!

Zhangfei Hot Pot is such a great spot!
The ambiance is lively and welcoming perfect for a fun night out with friends or family. The broths are packed with flavor, and the variety of meats, seafood, and veggies is fresh and high-quality. Everything tastes even better when you cook it yourself at the table. The staff is super friendly and attentive, always making sure you have what you need and explaining the menu if it’s your first time trying hot pot. Overall, it’s an experience that feels both authentic and enjoyable. Definitely recommend checking it out!

The spicy soup is very spicy, and probably not recommended for the unprepared.
All the dishes were very nice and the sauce station had a good variety. There are other places that have more choices.
The seating we had was not ideal – bar table and chairs were difficult to get in and out of without tipping over, and the table was far too small once the food arrived.
But good food overall.

Very tasty! Very authentic Sichuan hotpot! There is a wide selection of soup bases, the quality of the vegetables and meat is very high, and the prices are very affordable. The environment is also very comfortable, the lighting is soft, clean and tidy.

This place is great restaurant for numb and spicy lovers, especially the Sichun tastes of spicy! The food was mostly delicious, with the exception of the meats being sliced too thickly. The sauces and condiments were really well rounded, and they had practically ever sauce with hotpot that you could think of! They also had great decorations and beautiful paintings throughout the store. The lunch option is very filling, and the dinner option is even better with occasional warm snacks! The restaurant is relatively full, so try to go there a bit earlier. Other than that it is a great restaurant, with the staff being mostly friendly! Great place and a great price highly recommend.

Was delicious!!!! the service they catered to us as it was our first time there and the experience was wonderful. It’s such a different place to eat. Food variety is incredible and very diverse. We left feeling well supplied and serviced. The atmosphere was wonderful. We will certainly return again great place I would give them more stars if they were available.

The place is smaller than expected and I’m extremely annoyed when the place kept on asking you to write a 5 star review for free pitch of fruit juice.
No wonder the star rating is so high.
The place is decent and the beef lard (looks like a soap) soup base is gimmicky but fun.
However maybe because of cost cutting there really isn’t much choices when it comes to meat, fishballs, and etc. The menu is seriously lacking variety so if you compare to say Haidilao there isn’t much reason to come here other than this is less crowded.
There really isn’t anything special enough about the place to come here unless you happen to be in this plaza for shopping and happen to crave hot pot and Haidilao across the street is too busy.

The food is good, but the establishment is horrible.

They charge an automatic +18% gratuity no matter how many guests eat (I’ve ate with just two people and they still charge this gratuity). This policy is not visible on any signage until you actually receive your bill. Very malicious. Also makes it the cost of any high-end hotpot place, while not delivering the quality of it.

Also got a horrible fever from a line cook/waitress that went into the bathroom the same time as me, absolutely coughing his lungs out.

Would not recommend this place if you appreciate hygienic staff and transparent bills. Take your business to another AYCE hotpot restaurant

The soup base is great. I would recommend anyone who loves Sichuan food to try Green Peppercorn soup base. This place has AYCE through Monday to Wednesday plus Thursday lunch if I’m not getting it wrong. Meat plates are in generous sizes. Definitely recommend this place!

Reserved ahead of time for a big party of 12. Had the audacity to sit another group at the bigger table that should have been used to put the party together. Does anyone come with family to eat and has to be separated into different tables? Whats the point lol why would I come here again? If I wanted to eat without my family I would just go two different restaurants lol. Asian restaurants always pull this move and expect reserver to wait. Then why reserve? Whats the point of reserving ahead of time?
