We used Zest for our wedding cake and it genuinely was the most incredible cake we’ve ever had. We chose a chocolate cake with salted caramel and cookie crumble with vanilla buttercream and it was unbelievable moist, rich and delicious. Truly no words can describe how good it was. I wasn’t expecting much considering it was a giant cake for 160 people but it absolutely blew me away. Guests were raving about it all night and we literally ate it again for breakfast the next morning because we couldn’t stop talking about it.
Aside from taste, the cake itself was stunning. We wanted to incorporate real florals and Gabriella from Zest worked seamlessly with our florist to add fresh flowers that tied perfectly into our overall aesthetic. It became a centerpiece of the entire reception layout and was beyond beautiful, elegant and exactly what we envisioned.
Zest was so easy to work with from the start, incredible accommodating, and so talented. This isn’t your typical bland wedding cake, it was next level amazing. Highly, highly recommend Zest if you want a cake that is both stunning and absolutely delicious!

A delightful bakery in the Velvet Mill in Stonington, Connecticut.
We had visited the farmers market in the parking lot of the mill, then wandered around the repurposed mill.
We saw lots of people coming and going from this place and after reading their reviews, we decided we needed to check it out.
Very friendly service in this light filled space. So many treats to choose from and our server answered all our questions and helped us choose.
We loved the egg and bacon breakfast sandwich in the freshly made brioche.
We took the carrot cake slice for later and it was wonderful. Flavorful and very moist.
Seating available in this space or take it to go.
Lots of parking in the busy lot, even on a Saturday morning with the farmers market going.

We ordered a small vegan lemon cutting cake with vanilla buttercream for our wedding and were extremely impressed with the taste and texture. It was honestly the best vegan cake I have ever had. The frosting was not overly sweet and hard like a lot of vegan frosting tends to be. It was buttery and silky and the lemon cake was very moist and succulent. They also nailed the design we were looking for. Later in the night we walked in on a groomsman eating a piece of the cake, who also said “this is the best cake I’ve ever had, where is this from?” He was shocked to learn that it was vegan. We froze the rest of the cake for tradition but every day I am tempted to thaw it because it was so good. On top of this, the communication with Zest was very quick and they coordinated delivery of the cake to our venue which was a huge help. 10/10 recommend!

Gabriella and the pastry team at Zest created a tiered cheesecake for our November wedding, and absolutely knocked it out of the park! Gabriella was incredibly easy to work with and communicated promptly throughout the entire process. The tasting she arranged was delicious and super reasonably priced; we were also able to do it at home, which was great! Gabriella coordinated with our florist to get some spare flowers to decorate with ahead of time, and the cake looked absolutely stunning when it arrived at our venue. We would absolutely recommend Zest to any couple looking for a wedding cake vendor!

Gabriella is absolutely amazing to work with! I plan weddings for a living, so I had the pleasure of working with her for years before it came time for my own wedding. We honestly didn’t even look at any other bakeries since we knew Zest was who we wanted! We had a non-traditional small cake with a cheesecake on bottom and a carrot cake on top. Gabriella made it look amazing! Not to mention how fantastic all the other desserts she provided were as well! Especially the cake pops that we used as place card holders. People are still talking about them! If you are looking for visually stunning desserts that taste as good as they look, you have found the right place at Zest!

Zest Fresh Pastry is an outstanding bakery. We love stopping by on the weekends. There’s sometimes a wait, but it’s definitely worth it for their cinnamon rolls, breakfast sandwiches or crepes. When it came time to choosing a bakery for our wedding cake, Zest definitely delivered. Working with Gabriella was great – she was super responsive and created a beautiful and flavorful cake. Several of our guests said it was the best wedding cake they’d ever had! I highly recommend Zest for all your baked good needs!!

Gabriella and the rest of the team at Zest Bakery did an excellent job with our wedding cake and desserts! From our wedding cake, to the sheet cake, to whoopie pies, cookies, brownies, and other desserts, they ensured that the selection of sweets at our wedding was not only visually appealing, but exquisitely flavorful, which left all our guests satisfied. I’d be remiss not to mention how carefully they decorated the scale patterns on our cake, and how closely they matched the artistic vision we had for it. Cannot recommend this bakery enough for weddings or any other large events. If ordering a cake, be sure to check out their champagne cake! We got this with strawberry mousse and chocolate cake with mascarpone filling and vanilla buttercream, and would highly recommend those to any prospective wedding customers.
