Zen was Malta’s first Japanese restaurant and it is still widely regarded to be the best, with a wide selection of specialities and delicacies including miso soup, sushi, sashimi, vegetable & prawn tempura, as well as fish, meat and vegetarian dishes traditionally cooked and served in our Teppanyaki private room. The contemporary style of the restaurant blends effortlessly with the chic menu, providing an all-round, Japanese-style dining experience. Sushi is the first thing that comes to mind at the mention of Japanese cuisine, but Zen represents a more traditional, homely style of Japanese food still relatively unknown in the west. Simply amazing!We tried teppanyaki experience, it was amazing to observe how chef cooked for us, truly art of cooking … the food was delicious, we finished everything and did not leave even a bite. The deserts were delicious too. We paid 105 euro only, 2 main dishes, 2 deserts, small sushi appetizers (6pieces), water and jasmine tea for 2 people. We believe that for the experience and service we received it’s super cheap, honestly, they should put the prices up. Highly recommend this place, it was a highlight of our last day in Malta.

Great experience! We booked a table for the Teppanyaki experience and were not disappointed. The service was excellent and the food high quality and delicious.
We had tuna & angus beef, it was prepared on the grill in front of us and was served with rice and vegetables as well as a miso soup.
They have vegetarian options and you can also choose a la carte meals and optional starters. The chocolate truffle dessert was amazing!

A unique sushi experience! We were seated at the sushi bar, and being able to watch the chefs work was truly fascinating. Every dish was prepared with such precision, discipline and finesse — it felt like watching culinary art in motion.
Each piece of fish was incredibly fresh and delicately crafted in a traditional, authentic manner. The flavours were exceptional, and the attention to detail made the entire evening feel special.

Amazing quality toro tuna! It just melts in your mouth! If you spend any time in Malta, treat yourself, make reservations, put on an outfit to impress and go to Zen sushi! I like Zen Sushi better than Nobu Sushi in Los Angeles or any other Sushi restaurant in New York or Milano. The fish is caught locally in Malta. Five stars!

Our last meal in Malta was definitely the best. Great experience and the chef who cooked was amazing. Also took time to teach us how to eat with chopsticks correctly. Would love to go back!
