Went to Zen Garden Chinese in Burtonsville for the first time to celebrate my birthday, and it was such a great experience. A friend took me here—this has been her go-to spot for the past 14 years, and now I completely understand why.
The owner was incredibly kind and welcoming, which immediately set the tone. The restaurant itself is very spacious, clean, and thoughtfully designed with minimal décor, which I really liked. The menu has recently been revamped and looks fantastic—we tried several of the newer dishes, and everything was absolutely delicious.
To top it all off, they surprised me with little mochi balls for my birthday. They didn’t have candles, but luckily I always pack my own —it still felt very thoughtful and special. Our server was also very friendly and attentive, and the prices were extremely reasonable for the quality and portion sizes.
Overall, a wonderful birthday dinner and a place I’ll definitely be coming back to. Highly recommend!

I placed an order online and it was supposed to be ready within 25-30 minutes. I waited an extra 10 minutes in case they happened to be busy. 40 minutes later, I come in and am told that they couldn’t find my order. The order was paid for promptly and an recieved an confirmation promptly, BUT the food was not prepared in nearly an hour.
The response from the restaurant was dismissive and rude. A snappy, “We just found it. You have to wait.” Then the staff offer no remedy for the error and proceed to seat dine-in patrons. No apology, no empathy for my family patiently waiting for me in the below freezing temps outside. Just a disconnected response that disrespects the value of a customer.
If you order online, call and make sure that they are working on your order. I will not be back and it is a shame that any customer is treated this way.

We had a very enjoyable lunch at the Zen Asian Grill. The food was very good and attractively presented. Service was attentive and friendly. We had the orange chicken ($11.95) and Hunan chicken ($10.95). Lunch included a spring roll and a choice of soup.

Recently had lunch here with friends. Service was slow because there was only one waiter available for our large group of 13. However, when the food came, it was very delicious. I ordered the jumbo Teriyaki shrimp and broccoli and cleaned my plate. The shrimp was plump, with a Teriyaki sauce that complimented it and wasn’t overpowering. The broccoli was succulent and tender, easy to chew. The only complaint I have is that the “bar” didn’t have any ingredients available for the drinks mentioned on the menu. If ingredients aren’t available, then it should be crossed out on the menu. However, I just ordered a tea. It didn’t ruin my experience. I’ll be back.

I had a taste for egg foo young and remembered seeing it on the menu here. Met a friend on a Friday evening for dinner it wasn’t crowded at all. We were seated right away. For me egg foo young is all about the gravy. I ordered shrimp egg foo young. The portion size was big, lots of onions and bean sprouts which I like, the shrimp were a decent size. I ordered extra gravy because I love it. The waitress was not too attentive we had to ask for water, side plates and soy sauce.

We were looking around for a place for lunch as we were visiting that area. It looked like a nice place and we were not disappointed. It was very nice and not too busy. The food was fresh and good quality, but not as much taste as we’re used to in the west where we are from. The service was good and generally friendly. The prices were very good.

First time ordering take out from this place. Food was not terrible however rice to fish ratio is completely off. So much rice on regular sushi. The actual problem is the LONG BLACK HAIR my husband found in his regular rolls.
I believe that restaurant should be performing some kind of quality check, hair on food is unacceptable. Nevertheless we could not continue our dinner after finding the hair. “Waste”of money, food ended up in garbage.
I hope owners take this seriously and perhaps inspect food before selling to customers.
