I’ve been here a couple times. The quality keeps getting worse. This time it was for my gf birthday. We got the sushi and sashimi for 2. I’m not a huge fan of sashimi but fresh tuna has always tasted good to me. I make my own sushi often! But this time it really tasted a bit bad and the serving sizes where massive. Not really like true sashimi.
Honestly the place by the mall is better. Although it may be more pricey.
Also why did they use such a dirty sushi tool to add volume to our plate? It looked good at first but after closer inspection umm…..
We also went at 8 pm an hour before they close. Maybe we just got old cuts but still quality should be the priority!

Still a bad place with no care for customer service. Did a take out order thru the website so there wouldn’t be any misunderstanding with what I ordered. Sushi roll was cut into huge pieces but at least they remembered to add it to my bag gave me two orders of orange chicken when I had one general tso and one orange chicken also they didn’t provide the rice that comes with each order and sold me some crab ragoons that only one of the 4 had the creamy filling. Called to complain and got told they could give me a walk in credit for the rice. I know now why I stopped eating at Zen and dealing with their lack of care. Even leaving a tip for take out doesn’t help them provide what you paid for.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ One of My Favorite Spots in Town!
I go to this Japanese restaurant almost every weekend — and for good reason. The food is always fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The atmosphere is relaxed but elegant, perfect for a casual dinner or a nice outing with family or friends. The staff is friendly and attentive, and the service is consistently great.
Highly recommend this place if you’re looking for authentic Japanese cuisine and a welcoming environment!

Visited Zen Asian Bistro & Sushi for lunch after my brother recommended it, and it was a great experience. We both got some orange chicken and some California rolls. The food quality was great, and the sushi tasted fresh. I was really surprised by how good the shrimp tempura rolls were, especially since I personally don’t eat shrimp.
The ambiance was calm with fine lighting and nice decor, and our waitress was very kind and helpful. She explained the Happy Hour menu and gave great recommendations. She was also extremely productive when we had a drink split at the table, immediately cleaning and replacing it.
One thing that I didn’t really agree with, and it may be because I prefer to eat in a secluded location, but many of the tables felt a bit too close together. If I were to back my chair out, I would have accidentally hit the tables behind me. To improve guest experience, I would suggest rearranging the seating layout to allow more space between tables. I would also suggest making the restaurant a little louder by increasing the volume of the background music. They could also include some entertainment to elevate the silence. ur payment process was easy and quick. The staff were very communicative and gave us a warm goodbye, which made me want to come back another time.

A month ago, I went to eat there with my family for the first time. I ordered a sushi called “Godzilla Roll”, and it was very delicious. I ordered that because I was honoring and paying tribute to Godzilla because it was his birthday on November 3rd. I was also practicing how to use chopsticks, and I’m getting good at it. Thank you so much for the meal. Arigato.

Food is really good!! Impressive how good it is; place looks little old, but good appealing, food presentation is really nice, only drawback is service very slow! If you dont mind the slow service; but great prices by the way, is definitely a good option for sushi, oriental food, great variety of asian pops too

I’ve been coming here for about 2 years it’s a little bit of a drive for us but for the Rio grande valley it’s been the best value and the best sushi for the money we’ve been able to find if you go you might as well just order the all you can eat for 25 bucks a person that’s just the best value and you quickly get your money’s worth. Depending on the time sometimes it can be a little bit slow sometimes it is quicker. You will go some days and I guess who’s ever working the rice is just not very good and then some days the rice is spot on which is important
Same with the fish is there a date you go in a fish is really spot on and some days you know maybe they’re waiting for the new shipment to come in but overall my family and I have always had a good dinner very good service generally good quality of what they offer and they’re all you can eat buffet have some Chinese offerings and they are all a la carte. Which is great everything is served no getting up to a buffet line no touching other people’s hands via spoons overall really good value I don’t think anybody will be disappointed. I keep hoping they’ll open up one in the Brownsville area.

Host was great in seating us on a timely manner however I can’t say the same for the servers..nobody came to us to assist us we were waiting about 10 mins or more for any kind of service..servers were passing by back and forth without acknowledging us or at least to say “we will be with you shortly” NOTHING..it’s a small place for like 3 to 4 servers so even if it was busy which it wasn’t, the servers probably have like 5 tables tops or less so very much manageable and at that nobody came up to us. It seems like nobody wants to work or attend anybody and when they do they take forever to check up on their tables. I told the next people at the door good luck they take forever to assist you.We went to umiya instead

First time here, very good sushi rolls cooked or raw. We had the unlimited dine experience, were not disappointed.

Zen is one of my go to sushi places. The menu has a good variety of tempura and fresh rolls. If you’re hungry and want to try a variety of items you can’t go wrong with the all you can eat option. Visiting during the day will usually mean getting seated right away. The service has always been good here. My most recent visit was on a Friday night so naturally they were busier than usual. We were still seated within 20 minutes and the food was still great. The special rolls on the back of the menu are a must try. My favorites are the Ginobili roll and the Texan roll. Anything with salmon or tuna is tasty.
