My wife and I stopped in on Sunday to have dinner at Zeera. We were greeted by Ash, and our server was Tristen. The food here is nothing short of phenomenal! We had Samosas which came with a flight of sauces which was an excellent pairing. I ordered the Butter Chicken (spice-level, Indian Hot) and it was the perfect balance of spice with a slight sweetness. The value for what you receive doesn’t make you feel like you could have done better at home. Parking is plentiful and the atmosphere strikes a balance in that there’s people there, but you can still focus on having a conversation with family and not feel like everyone is listening in.
Oh! We got two different naans: Cheese Naan and Bullet Naan. Both were delicious!
So, did their slogan meet expectation? Absolutely. We’ll be coming back.
I’m writing this review especially for the Carrot Halwa. Earlier, it was easily a 5-star dessert—we used to order it for all our parties. However, after about three years, I noticed a change in the recipe. They have started adding coconut, which sometimes leaves an oily aftertaste and affects the flavor. Coconut is not traditionally part of authentic carrot halwa, and the rich milk-cream texture that made it special earlier now seems to be missing. It feels more like carrots, nuts, and coconut rather than the classic halwa.
I truly hope they consider bringing back the old recipe and taste, as it was one of the highlights of this place.
Avis suggested I try items from the buffet before ordering from the menu. She then explained every dish and gave me a sample of each. I captured a picture of the sample platter, most of which I’d eaten before I took the photo .
I was satisfied with the sample. However, I wanted to get a to-go order to share with my husband. I consumed all the bone-in chicken curry from the carton–succulent, flavorful, and delicious. I also devoured the YUMMIEST mango custard dessert Prettyka mentioned. I took a nibble of another sample of gulab jamun (I’ll be back for more of that later). I was told they only serve the previously mentioned desserts on the weekend, but I see them on Grubhub delivery items.
Out of all the great things I could state about Zeera’s it is the warm welcome that resonates the most which guarantees my return again and again!!! The best customer service in Fuquay Varina!
1. They told us! Unlike many other restaurants that leave you rotting at the table repeating that the food will be out shortly. I wish more restauants would just be honest. Customers will understand.
2. They brought every table a free app. It was nice to much on something while we chatted. No hangry customers in sight!
3. They apologized. How refreshing to hear that they care. The waitress apologized, the hostess apologized, and the owner apologized.
These people work hard to make every dish perfect. Such a gem in Fuquay!!!
This time, it came EXTRA hot and it’s delicious!!!! Definitely the spicy curry I was looking for.
Thank you Zeera!!!
As a lifelong Easterner who spent decades in Washington, D.C., I’ve been spoiled with access to all kinds of authentic cuisines, North and South Indian included. Even with that background, Zeera absolutely holds its own. You can taste the care and thought that’s gone into crafting a menu that caters beautifully to every palate and spice tolerance.
Ash was a delight, checking in often with genuine warmth, and our server, Tristen, completely charmed us. His eyes lit up when we shared our love of high heat; it’s such a treat to meet someone who takes as much pleasure in spice as we do. And as such, he was able to tell the kitchen to give us the “works”. Lastly, we were a bit surprised when we saw our bill, as it was more than worth the price point for the care and the experience. This is an establishment that we can afford to visit for more than just the special occasion, though I think Zeera can fit the bill for those special outings as well.
If you’re craving a little taste of India right here in Fuquay, do yourself a favor and give Zeera a visit. It’s a gem worth savoring.
