From cocktails to all their delicious food. They know how to cook seafood right.. try everything and you will never be disappointed.
The menu is diverse, featuring oysters, lobster, and a variety of fish options that are cooked to perfection. The seafood is impeccably fresh, and the restaurant also offers unique twists on classic dishes. I tried oysters and were beautifully presented and full of flavor. The wine selection offered excellent pairings for each course.
The atmosphere is intimate and cozy, with a rustic yet elegant decor that adds to the overall experience. Service was outstanding; the staff was attentive, knowledgeable about the menu, and very accommodating with recommendations.
Pricing is on the higher end, but the quality of food and service makes it worth it. Zee Grill is a perfect spot for a special occasion or a refined evening out. I’d highly recommend it to anyone seeking a top-tier seafood experience in Toronto.
Side note: a few years ago I saw the owner receiving a shipment of fresh seafood and carefully inspecting the merchandise. He returned some of it because it apparently didn’t meet his standards. This discerning attention to the quality of the food showed me how seriously they care to provide only the finest seafood to their patrons.
We are absolutely certain that we ordered fish & chips, but what arrived was surf & turf. We immediately pointed out the mistake to the server who brought the food, and she said she would check. Shortly after, the female server who took our order came over and asked in a questioning tone, “Didn’t you order surf & turf?” We reiterated that we had ordered fish & chips. She then said she could change it, but we would have to wait, to which we agreed.
However, she quickly returned to inform us that the fish & chips were sold out. In the end, we reluctantly accepted the surf & turf, which contained duck – a dish we do not particularly enjoy.
Throughout this ordeal, we had hoped the restaurant might offer an apology (perhaps by comping a dessert), but disappointingly, they never showed any remorse. Given that we two ordered a considerable amount of food, receiving such an unapologetic and insincere level of service was deeply disappointing.
To be honest, if it were just about the food itself, we might have considered returning. The problem is, we consistently encounter the same female server taking orders on every visit, and her attitude is consistently indifferent and perfunctory. Rather than continue giving someone who repeatedly makes mistakes and fails to apologize the opportunity to serve us, we have decided to permanently stop patronizing this establishment.
We are sharing this experience as a reference for others: please think twice before choosing this restaurant, or you may regret it.
I highly recommend it and bon appétit!
There’s a nice selection of oysters and they come with a really nice chili sauce. The raw bar menu looks good but is a little pricey.
I quite liked the crab cakes. They’re too small to share in a larger group but great for date night.
The hand cut fries were good, though not particularly noteworthy.
I recommend coming here in a small group and sharing a few dishes for the best experience.
