I recently picked up an order through the drive-thru at the Hartsville, SC, Zaxby’s location. When I pulled up to the window, the employee opened it, handed me my food, and immediately closed the window without any greeting, acknowledgment, or ‘thank you.’
A simple smile, eye contact, or basic courtesy like ‘Here you go—thanks for coming!’ can make a big difference in how customers feel about their experience. It often determines whether someone returns or chooses a different spot next time.
I believe a quick reminder or short training on friendly customer service could go a long way toward keeping guests coming back. Unfortunately, this interaction left me feeling unappreciated, and with plenty of other good options nearby, I won’t be returning here.
I hope management sees this and addresses it—your food is usually great, but service matters too.

I’ve been a loyal Zaxby’s customer for years, and I genuinely love the brand—which is why what happened at the Hartsville, South Carolina location was so disappointing.

I spent $52 and received what I can honestly describe as the worst food I’ve ever been served. The chicken tenders were so low-quality that I’ve had gas station beef jerky that tasted better. The portions were scarce, and the overall meal was unacceptable for what I paid.

To make it worse, once I got back to my hotel I realized they had forgotten half of my order, so I had to drive back. When I returned, I sat at the front counter while three employees sat in a booth talking, and I could not get anyone to acknowledge me or provide service. It was completely unprofessional.

This experience was a complete joke from start to finish—poor food quality, incomplete order, and a total lack of customer service. I expect far better from Zaxby’s, especially as a long-time customer.

My salad tasted very old. The egg was was like rubber and the cucumbers looked very old as well. They only put a half of piece of bacon on my salad. I had to ask for the bacon and egg because they didn’t put it on there in the first placeand of course the worker had an attitude about it. Usually enjoy their salads but I don’t think I’ll be returning in a while.

First time trying zaxby’s. Cashier was friendly, food took a bit of time but we did come at lunch time so they were busy. The seating area was a little crowded… felt like the tables were on top of each other. Not much room to move around with chairs pulled out and people sitting. Once food came it was actually pretty good… hubby tried the spicy chicken sandwich (wasn’t spicy at all)but was good he said. I tried the nibblers with fried pickles. Sandwiches were good, pickles were alright. Fries had like a old bay type seasoning and were pretty good as well.

When I walked in the restaurant was warm and inviting. I was helped immediately and placed my order. I ordered the Cobb Zalad. It was fresh and delicious. A great portion size. The cashier was very friendly and attentive.

Came in for a kickin sandwich meal with a large sweet tea and got unsweet tea… go figure. Then I get home and open the sandwich and it is literally laying in a puddle of ranch the depth of the bread. This is my problem with workers at fast food wanting 15 dollars an hour when the majority of aren’t worth 7.25. If you hate your job so bad that you can’t get an order correct and made right then get another job.

Absolutely horrible. My husband and daughter going for dinner. I am big fun of chicken wings,but what I get here was the smallest wings I ever had. My baby chickens on my yard has bigger wings. There was just a very little meat,so mostly I lick the sauce and bones We will never go back again

We typically frequent this location, but have now stopped. We have seen one or more mice in the dining room on at least three separate occasions within the span of three months. Each time we were dining in the evening. We have let employees at the store know and even emailed the corporate office. We are concerned and disappointed that the rodent issue has not been addressed.

I have visited many times but now I make sure I call. I LOVE your frozen lemonade UNFORTUNATELY no one is “fixing” the machine. This machine has been down for over 2 months. The last time i was able to purchase a frozen lemonade was April 28th. Your menu offers a frozen lemonade than fix the machine or take it off your menu.
