We (party of 2) arrived at 9:05am to a nearly empty dining area, sat promptly, and brought our drinks in timely manner.
The server was nice, but the only employee working the dining area even though there were other employees standing around. She informed us we could order off the menu or have the buffet. The buffet looked horrible so we ordered off the menu.
The server was not attentive (it was nearly empty) as we had to flag her from behind the bar for refills. She was chatting with other employees.
After about 25 minutes I asked about the food and she replied it was coming. After another 10 minutes another employee (manager?) asked if we got our food and we said “No.”
She apologized and went to the kitchen to check on it. She disappeared and never returned, hope she’s okay…
Another 15 minutes passed and the room temperature food finally came out (a little after 10am)
The server apologized for the wait and explained that the kitchen stove, fryer, etc had been turned off.
I said that should of been explained at the beginning as we could of gone somewhere else.
The food:
The best part of the meal was the coffee and OJ.
The food was room temp when it arrived.
My wife’s chicken and waffles plate was an eye-rolling dish. It was a simple waffle cut into 4s and topped with a thin orange slice and cherries. The chicken was a dry piece of fried chicken cut into strips – horrible execution.
My mexican plate of corn tortillas topped with beans, eggs, and salsa wasn’t bad, just room temp.
The flour tortillas served with the meal were low quality cheapy tortillas.
A spanish speaking man (kitchen manager?) Came to talk to us and apologized for the wait and quality of food as they are changing the menu. He said he’s from Mexico so the food will improve (?) I don’t know what that has to do with anything, but that was his excuse. Also, “changing the menu” is such a bad attempt of an excuse.
Apparently, slow service and poor food quality are an on-going problem with the hotel restaurant, which is a shame because it’s suppose to be part of a 4 diamond hotel resort and provide the best experience. Truly a failure in all aspects.
Fortunately, we didn’t have to pay for the meal as we had a gift certificate for 2 comp breakfasts, but what a huge waste of time and meal.
