Stopped by Zankou Chicken and this time tried the Tri-Tip Shawarma Plate, and it was honestly way better than I expected. The meat was tender, packed with flavor, and the hummus and salad on the side made the whole plate feel super fresh, but what I like the most is of course, their famous garlic sauce is just unbeatable, I could literally put that on everything. Service was quick, the staff was friendly, and the food came out hot. Great spot when you want something filling, affordable, and consistently good, recommended.

This place has always been a favorite of mine because their quality of food and garlic sauce.
However, something that has reduced my time eating here is the price increases. I know inflation has made ingredient prices a lot more expensive resulting in menu price increases, but I think the menu should reflect the current price especially with the current economy.
I went in to grab some food during my lunch and was charged $20.01 for a beef kebab plate, but the price on the menu was $18.50. I was told that it was before taxes, but taxes were also on top of the entire order so I was pretty confused. They also told me that it was new management that’s running this, so I hope the management updates the menu so that customers know how much is the meal they’re buying. It’s definitely not just for the food since my drink was also a couple cents more than what’s posted. Menu says it was last updated 27 Nov 2024.
Nonetheless, the workers are respectable and food quality has remained the same.

had such a great experience at Zankou! The food was absolutely delicious – fresh, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. Every bite was satisfying, and you can really taste the quality in their ingredients.
The team at Zankou was just as amazing as the food. They were friendly, attentive, and welcoming, which made the whole visit even better. It felt like they truly cared about giving their customers the best experience.
If you’re looking for a place with excellent food and outstanding service, I highly recommend Zankou. I’ll definitely be coming back again and again!

A solid representation of Zankou Chicken which is one of my favorite rotisserie chicken restaurants.
I just ordered a half chicken rotisserie plate with salad and hummus. It was delicious and cooked perfectly, just like all the other Zankou spots I’ve been to.

I wasn’t looking for this particular restaurant. My objective was at CVS pharmacy. I saw the restaurant and went in to get something to drink. The respect that they gave me, could be seen and felt for miles. Decided to try some of the food. We’ve been having Mediterranean food since the 80s. The food, the service and overall everything about this restaurant. Absolutely, incredible. Highly recommend it. I’m thankful to have found this family restaurant. I took my food to go, due to other errands.

Wraps are average, but very small. Prepare to order a second just to get your fill.

Ordered a Chicken Tarna wrap with no tomatoes and extra garlic sauce; after a lengthy wait, received a chicken Tarna WITH tomatoes and NO extra garlic sauce.
I would recommend you double check with the person handing your order if it’s what they packed if you made modifications.

So I have been going to Zankou Chicken for a while, and I was told that the family actually split up so some were different.
I found out how different the locations are. There are two divisions of the Zankou Chicken business. I have been to locations from both, and I have learned that the biggest difference is not in which division, but in the location.
Here at the Montebello location, they did not have the cucumber salad and they do not automatically give you the garlic sauce, and to choose sides is a hassle.
So far the chicken at this location is SUPER SALTY, and not as tender, and felt kinda grainy. The rice feels over cooked and the tabula salad is terrible. The texture almost felt like I would have mouthfuls of straight cilantro with not enough lime juice. I’m astonished at how different this location was from the Sunset location or the Long Beach location which are both from different divisions, but are arguably just as good.
The vibe feels different and they seemed more rude here. The Long Beach location there are much nicer than this one. There were only two people working and they seemed annoyed with me. Themployees working, good food, great atmosphere, and they seem happier.
I didn’t want to say anything because I honestly felt like they either wouldn’t care or wouldn’t want to feel awkward about speaking up. I drove pretty far to this location and now I feel like I should have driven somewhere else.
Out of everything though, this location’s garlic sauce is still fire, and they provide warm pita bread which I really liked. It was in a bag, with condensation in it proving how freshly warmed it was.
My mom really liked it. They say that “comparison” is the thief of joy.” This might be the case. I might be wrong and just be annoyed because I wasn’t acknowledged right away when I came in. I don’t know. But if you do eat here and you’re not a fan, give the other aforementioned locations a try.

My wife and I enjoy the food at Zankou chicken,we have been coming and enjoying there delicious chicken for many years. They make everrhing at the restaurant fresh and made to order when you order your meal at Zankou chicken. The one meal I enjoy the most is their chicken Kebab plate is so good it comes with rice and hummus and side salad with pickle turnip and two pita bread and a tomato on the side. My wife enjoy their falafel wrap she say she the crispy of the falafel balls and season well with herbs and spices.
