My wife loves Indian Food, so we go to Indian restaurants quite a bit. I don’t really understand what any of the dishes are, so I usually end up getting Chicken Tandoori or Marsala.
So today when she said she wanted to try a new Indian restaurant I was less than enthusiastic. I did think that tonight, I am going to try something different.
As soon as I walked in the restaurant I knew this was going to be a different experience. The restaurant is spotless and airy and filled with natural light.
The menu was extensive and I actually tried something I never had. The Kadahi Chicken was delicious. We tried two appetizers we never had, Pani Puri, and the Samosa Chatt.
Our cocktails were excellent. The prices are reasonable and the service is great. We will definitely return whenever we are in the Wausau area.

First time in my life trying Indian food (first for my wife as well) and I cannot say in words how good everything was. We kept it simple and tried samosas, butter chicken, the bread platter, and the shahi tukda dessert. Each dish had unique flavors, bold flavors (but not overwhelming, especially for someone who isn’t a big fan of “warm” flavors) and was very well portioned for the price.
We placed a to go order and the food was all ready at the promised time, fresh and well packaged.
The shahi tukda dessert might be the best dessert in town!!! It’s so good!

Wow! What a wonderful experience! The atmosphere is beautiful, the staff was great, and the food was absolutely incredible! We went here for lunch on a Saturday. We have had limited experience with Indian food, so we wanted to try multiple options. The first impression was a warm welcome into a beautiful space. The chairs at the tables and the booth backs are covered in a soft material, and the booth we had was very comfortable. The table settings made it feel like we were very underdressed, but we never were made to feel out of place. We started with an order of Samosa Chaat. We loved it! There is a mixture of hot, cold, sweet, spicy, creamy, and crunchy. For our entrees, we chose Butter Chicken, Chicken Tika Masala, and Malai Kofta. We had a hard time choosing which was our favorite! In addition to these entrees, we also ordered two versions of the Naan – garlic Naan and Maharaja Naan. The garlic speaks for itself. The Maharaja Naan is a delicious combination of fruits, nuts, and spices. We can’t wait to try other options!

We have been driving to Madison and Green Bay to satisfy our Indian food cravings. Excited to say, not anymore! Zaika transported us to different regions of India from the moment we walked through the door. From the beautiful Masala Chai tea to the Samosa, it was perfect. We had several dishes and I knew immediately it was what we have been looking for! Authentic, fantastically spiced, fragrant, mouthwatering…I’m not sure if words can describe the pleasure this food gave us. We are so grateful Zaika has brought a taste of India to our corner of the world. THANK YOU!!! (We were so excited about food that I forgot to get photos until after we had partaken!)

Zaika Gourmet India in Wausau has become a special part of our family’s week. We drive all the way from Stevens Point every Friday for dinner — that’s how much we love this place! For many years there weren’t any nearby Indian restaurants in our area, so discovering Zaika has been such a blessing.
The food is consistently delicious. The crispy chilli chicken is our absolute favorite — perfectly cooked, flavorful, and just the right amount of heat. We also can’t get enough of their garlic naan (soft, fresh, and aromatic every single time) and the paneer butter masala, which is creamy, rich, and incredibly comforting.
The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the service is always friendly and attentive. It truly feels like they care about every guest who walks through the door.
If you’re anywhere near Wausau and craving authentic, top-quality Indian food, Zaika Gourmet India is the place to go. Our family highly recommends it — it’s worth the drive every single time!

Zaika Gourmet India in Wausau has completely won me over, and I’ll absolutely be coming back! From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, but what truly made the evening special was our waitress. She was attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about the menu — taking the time to walk me through the dishes, make personalized recommendations, and check in throughout the meal without ever being intrusive. That kind of thoughtful, gracious service is rare and did not go unnoticed.
And the food? Absolutely incredible. Every dish that hit the table was bursting with authentic, complex flavors — perfectly spiced and beautifully presented. You can tell the kitchen takes real pride in what they’re putting out. This isn’t just good Indian food for Wausau — it’s genuinely outstanding Indian food, period.
If you haven’t been to Zaika yet, do yourself a favor and go. Between the stellar service and the unforgettable food, this place has earned a permanent spot on my list. Easily one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in the area!

Chicken Vindaloo and chili garlic Naan were amazing. Flavor was excellent, portions were generous, and the special request for half way between medium and hot spice level reminded us we were alive but not so hot as to regret we were so. All the stars, highly recommend.

Great place to grab some chow with delicious Indian food, with a few options you won’t see in other places, there definitely worth a stop if you’re looking for some chow that you won’t find in other places or if you want to be adventurous and try something you have never heard of or tried. There definitely a place I would stop at again!!

I ordered goat in my meal and got about 4 bites of meat and the rest was bone. About 3/4 of my to-go container consisted of bone. Nowhere in the description on the menu does it list bone on the meat. For almost $19 this was a huge rip off. The food was good other than that.
