New to the Berkeley community and have rarely felt so welcome as I did eating at Zak’s recently. His big smile and warm personality are exceeded only by the size and deliciousness of his sandwiches. The grilled eggplant sandwich was fantastic and competitively priced. Highly recommend.

Owner at the counter is a middle aged man, very friendly which is great if you are looking for conversation while waiting for food. Pies taste great and have a homey feel to them. Prices are very cheap relative to the area. Totally recommend a visit, but don’t forget to bring cash.
