Restaurant was close to my hotel while I was visiting DC for a few days. I stopped by twice and had a great experience both times. Excellent service. I was planning on getting a burger, but asked the lady for suggestions and she recommended the Philly cheese. So, that’s what I ordered. Really good, and loved the almost same as 5 Guys fries. So good! The next day I ordered a chicken sandwich with cheese. Huge! Overall both experiences were great!

Great spot for quality made-to-order burgers, fries and shakes. Was surprised to see they’re rated at 4.1 (at the time of writing this) as my experience was truly excellent. Service was friendly, the burger was made with care (you can watch the cooks from the tables), the shake was delicious with just the right thickness, the fries were so good, and pricing was quite reasonable given the quality of ingredients. A couple of the chairs are a little worn but overall it’s a good spot that I will be revisiting. Recommended if you’re in the area.

Um umm. That is one tasty burger !! Made to order with mushrooms and fried onions with a splash of Z sauce. We ate them twenty four hours later. Unfortunately we also bought a regular onion ring sack. Full onion slice coated in corn meal? The amount you get was enough for us to fill our belly’s. Even our pup enjoyed a plain single cheeseburger. Turned out to be a great meal before the fireworks. Quick in and out. Pup friendly with outdoor seating.

Wow….I was hungry waiting for someone to arrive at Union Station and decided to try Z Burger. Never had one so this was a first for me. The Staff was helpful and patient with my ordering. The selections and options were plentiful for a Fast Food operation…cheese steaks, hot dogs, turkey and plant based burgers. I ordered the double bacon cheeseburger and the half/half Onion Rings and Fries. Boy-o-Boy. I was very pleasantly surprised. This wasn’t Fast Food but a gourmet burger you.might get from a fancy restaurant. First, the burger was top quality beef pressed into action right in front of you. Cooked, it had the right amount of texture, grease and taste. Then the melted American Cheese tasted like REAL CHEESE. On top of the routine lettuce and tomato, I added jalapeño peppers and onions which were both generously chunky, tasty and aromatic. The fries and onion rings were hot and crispy, perfectly complimenting the delicious burger.
I STRONGLY RECOMMEND THIS Z BURGER AND THEY SHOULD EXPECT A REPEAT CUSTOMER.

Workers in this place are terrible. Came in at 9pm (closes at 2am), all of them were “sweeping” the front door (there was nothing to clean tbh), while I and other customers have been standing outside that door, waiting for them to finish. They clearly see us, but have not said a single word, no gesture, nothing. It was like their way of telling us to go home, even if it was hours away from closing. The “open” light sign was on as well. 1 star because I’ve been to other locations, and the food is great.

We (6 of us) visited ZBurger several times while we attended volleyball tournament a couple of years ago, as we stayed across the road, Sam was great. We are back for our final Capitol Hill volleyball tournament and we had to visit ZBurger before leaving town and Sam was working and made our experience even better. Sam is truly a blessing and an asset to ZBurger!!! We love Sam, so if you visit New Jersey Ave ZBurger, say hello to Sam, he will make your experience that much better.

I found a 20 min wait for dine in fast food was a bit long. And my shake came out even later. I also found $21 a bit steep for a philly cheese steak and shake. Fortunately it was enough food for us as a couple.
The food wasn’t that well presented, like crushed bun and falling apart a bit, but the taste was perfect.
The shake was very thick – I ended up eating it with a spoon. They accepted my order for cookie dough flavour and later realised there was none in stock. I switched to maple walnut. It didn’t taste anything like maple or walnut. It was like motor exhaust and sugar.
Note that I’m Australian, so I’m used to less additives and artificial flavours, even in standard fast food.
All those who ordered after us seemed even more frustrated at the wait for their orders, and looked agitated.
Step it up boys!
Hot tip – when ordering a shake, go to that counter and see which ones are flavoured by non just syrup. It looks like m&ms and other flavours might have come from confectionery rather than syrup, which is probably nicer.

I want to support more local places but this just isn’t the place for me.
The chicken sandwich is tasty but the previous food place at this address (wasn’t a chain) had the same basic thing with fries for a small amount more.
The milkshake bar/table takes up too much space leaving the dining area cramped.
They have a tendency to leave holiday decorations up well past said holiday.
They have Fox News on the television with the volume on.

Z Burger is a really nice small burger joint with a great menu. I had the double cheeseburger & it was large, juicy, dripping with cheese & like home on the grill. Staff were friendly. Place was clean & the music was not blaring loud like a lot of places… The strawberry shake was delicious. I definitely would recommend!
