My only thought for next time would be to ask for my beef to be a little less cooked. They were fine with me adding shrimp to my dish. I tried pho for the first time and quite enjoyed it & the complexity of the flavors together. While sitting eating they had a steady stream of patrons, so the locals frequent. Next time, I look forward to trying out some other dishes I had my eyes on. If you are in Sailsbury I would tell you to divert from the usual, familiar & fast food restaurants. Give this spot a try!
Maybe then I would not have been so shocked and appalled to find GRAVY on my tofu banh mi. Every airport banh mi I’ve ever gotten has been phenomenal in comparison with this weird southern appropriation.
The place is a total dive which made me feel at home in a good way, and the counter service was prompt and friendly. The finely shredded pickled veggies made for a really terrible looking sandwich and the expected crunch of properly cut veggies was notably missing. They tasted great at least and the one thing that made it at all edible since even the bread was meh. I’ve never not finished a banh mi before and could only eat enough to fill me up a little.
I would consider stopping in again out of shear lack of other options in the area, general love of all Vietnamese food, but mostly out of a sick curiosity of how bad the pho must be.
Atmosphere and Service: 6.8/10 – The space is small and casual with a walk-in layout and self-serve setup. It’s not a traditional restaurant, but more of a mini-mart style counter with seating, which adds character and makes it feel authentic to its street food concept. Seating is limited but functional, and the people working there were friendly. No formal waitstaff, but the process was smooth and efficient. The menu has plenty of variety and is easy to navigate. Prices are very reasonable for the quality and portions.
Pho: 9.1/10 – One of the best pho bowls around. The broth was bold, flavorful, and packed with seasoning, standing out far beyond the typical preparation. The noodles were cooked perfectly, and the overall presentation was excellent. A deeply satisfying and well-balanced dish.
BBQ Pork Fries: 7.3/10 – A unique and tasty twist. The fries were served hot and well-cooked, and the BBQ pork added a flavorful contrast. It’s an inventive dish that worked well and delivered a satisfying bite.
Crabangoon Egg Rolls: 6.5/10 – A creative variation that turned out well. The texture and flavor were enjoyable, offering a different take on a classic item. The sweet and sour sauce paired nicely and added the right touch of flavor.
