Came on a cold day and it was perfect weather for some hot udon! The soup was very flavorful and the size was definitely just right. We ordered a cold and hot to share, I think I would choose the hot overall. Wait time seemed long but it went by quick maybe like a 30-40 min wait? I liked how they took our orders while we were waiting outside and once we sat down we got served our food right away. Would definitely come back again!

When we walked out of Todd Snyder and didn’t see a line at Yume, we honestly thought it might be closed. Usually, there’s a line, but we lucked out and walked straight in. The space is tight, only four two-seat tables and a handful of counter seats. The kitchen is open which is nice to see them making the noodles by hand.
The server was fast, efficient, and friendly.
• Hot Niku Udon (10/10): This had a delicious chicken broth with a distinct shrimp flavor thatbut not overwhelming.
• Spicy Cold Niku Udon (9/10): The beef was mouth watering. It was a very good bowl of udon, though it could have used more spice since it’s … called spicy.
Bathroom review:
There is a single unisex bathroom. I appreciate that the door has a clear vacant or occupied sign that changes when you lock it. It was clean enough for such a busy restaurant, and they provide paper hand towels in addition to an air dryer. Also a baby changing station.

Good! But I can’t say it lived up to the hype. Maybe with all the buzz, I had some pretty high expectations. Ordered the hot spicy niku udon and the broth was really delicious, tempura was well executed, but the udon itself (I love udon and was super excited for this) wasn’t anything special and lacked a bit of bounce/chew…so was a bit of a let down for me considering all the buzz. Don’t get me wrong, the food is good and tasty and I’d go back!
Also, we showed up around 5ish and no wait for a table!

I was recommended this spot by a friend – he didn’t tell me that I’d have to wait outside in the cold for 30 minutes since this spot is so popular!
The wait was 1000% worth it. The udon was absolutely magical- the best part was the broth. I don’t know how they make their broth so flavorful. It’s been a while since I’ve had food that’s genuinely dumbfounded me but Yume did that.
Definitely come, but be ready to wait!

This place was a little overhyped. The udon was good, but it wasn’t amazing. I wish there was a nutty component to the cold udon sauce. The udon itself was cooked perfectly and very bouncy. Recommend getting there a little before opening so you don’t have to wait long. Service was friendly, and prices were reasonable for the location.

I ordered the hot spicy niku udon. It came very quickly and very hot which was great. However, it was not spicy and there was a very fishy flavor (from the dried shrimp and fish) which tasted a little odd to me. I think there’s a reason why the cold udon is more popular but I do think both options should be made to be just as flavorful as each other. I got this on the first day of Nor’easter when it was incredibly cold and rainy, so it had to be a hot udon. My friend’s cold udon was very flavorful and the noodles were a great texture. I just don’t see what the hype is about, I felt like the flavor and meat wasn’t mind blowing enough for me to give this experience 5 stars.

This place has really good Udon and I would recommend at least placing a order for take out from here! That’s what I ended up doing because the place is a bit small and has very limited seating so I can be a bit of a wait if you want to sit down and eat. So I ordered the cold Udon with Extra Extra Beef, cause I had not eaten all day, with two eggs and the bowl really hit the spot though it wasn’t overly filling. If you’re solo or with at most a small group I would trying eating in otherwise I would recommend placing a to go order and eating it where you’re staying.

TLDR: YUM- try to eat in restaurant. If you get it to go, opt for the cold option.
This place is SO tasty. Highly recommend if you’re in Boston. There will most likely be a wait as inside seating is small so beware. However, you are able to order takeout which will be quicker depending on the line which is what we did. The food was definitely fresh and hot but maybe too hot for the plastic. When we got home (10 min uber ride) one of the soup containers melted from the heat (see attached)

It was very delicious. I ordered the signature cold udon (ginger removed) while my friend ordered the signature hot udon. We tried each others dishes’ and the only difference is mostly presentation and temperature. The portions are great for the reasonable price for very chewy and pleasant-to-eat noodles paired really nicely with the other ingredients. The meat was tender and flavorful and I devoured it 🙂
Worth the wait, but for coming in ~6:30ish PM on a Sunday, we had to wait outside in line for around 40 minutes because there’s no space ins tore. Luckily something nearby kept the air a little warm since it was cold. The staff are also nice (just rushed) and the atmosphere inside is good. You can see the cooks making the noodles in front of you.
おいしかったです!また行って食べたいです。

Hands down the best udon place in Boston! The texture of the handmade noodles is incredible—perfectly chewy and bouncy, exactly how they should be. The broth is rich and savory without being too heavy. Even if there is a bit of a line, it moves quickly and is absolutely worth the wait. A true gem in the Seaport area that never disappoints!
