I recently visited Yuma Frita after seeing their billboard and was excited to try a new Cuban restaurant in Rochester. It’s always great to see new concepts come to town.
I ordered the Ropa Vieja after asking what was popular. The shredded beef was flavorful, and I appreciated trying something different from the usual options in the area. The portion was generous, and I’m looking forward to coming back to try the fritas since that’s what originally caught my attention.
As a newer restaurant, there may still be some growing pains with service and flow, but that’s understandable when a team is getting established. I’m hopeful they’ll continue to refine the experience as they settle in.
Wishing them continued success — Rochester can definitely use more diverse dining options!

Excellent food and service! The ropa vieja was my favorite- the shredded beef was seasoned so well it was mouth watering and the plantains were perfectly soft. The caramelized pineapple batido milkshake was chefs kiss – DELICIOUS. Can’t wait for summer to add some rum and sit on the patio with friends. The ahi tuna ceviche was tasty with mangos and saltiness crackers were unexpected. My husband’s burger with added thick cut bacon and mango slaw was tasty too but needed to add another side for him to feel full. We played dominoes and cards while we waited for food. They have tons of gluten free options. Thanks for bringing cuban-ish food to Rochester!

This was my first time here. It is a new(ish) restaurant after a long time taco place closed. It honestly has a total different feel inside. I love it so much more.
One of the staff was super helpful, kind and full of information to help us select items we would love.

The girl I ordered from, not so much. The guy recommended the Frites (a bit like a hamburger). When I ordered it, I must have mispronounced it. She literally rolled her eyes at me like I was stupid and corrected me. I said yes, I think that’s what I want.

She asked what I wanted on it? I had no idea what the options were. They are NOT listed. I went with a traditional burger. Cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickle, no mayo or sauce. I was told “We don’t have those things- Just the cheese”.

When I asked what options she had, she told me bacon, cheese, avocado is most popular. I don’t eat bacon (many of us don’t), and I didn’t want avocado on it. Anyway. I got my order placed and paid.

Food came out VERY quick. However, it was just a burger with cheese, topped with skinny fries and soaked in a sauce. NOT what I wanted. It was a type of mayo based sauce from what I could tell. I scraped as much of it off as possible. I’m not able to eat Mayonnaise. Added mustard and called it as good as I would get.

I think it would be much more popular with a slice of tomato and some lettuce. Maybe that is not the cucban-ish style, but I very much dislike mine the way it came. Would NOT order it again unless it had some actual condiment options like lettuce & tomato .
We were a group of seven ladies enjoying a lunch out. One of the girls ordered us the churros with chocolate sauce. They were very crisp, but the dark chocolate sauce looked delicious. I think all but 3 were eaten.

They had many fun types of alcoholic drinks as well as shakes. I wanted to try a shake, but the less than helpful girl at the register was in no mood to tell me how the shakes were made and sugar content (diabetic here). So I didn’t even ask after trying to order the burger with lettuce & tomato, I settled for my mostly naked burger / fritas.

It’s a very clean place, great atmosphere, and the gentleman who came to our table several times was so kind and helpful. I appreciated him a lot. He took our group photo. Made us feel very welcomed.

The menu items are unique. I think most all the dishes looked flavorful. If I return I will try the Kiosk to order. Perhaps it lists what comes with each item or options of what they have to embellish with.

I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at Yuma Fritas! They just opened last week and their service and food were exceptional. I got to try their hot sauce and boy is it delicious. Go check them out!

P.s. I’ll grab a picture of the actual food next time I visit!

As a Puerto Rican, this place is a must stop! So familar and comforting. Oh my god the food! A well needed restaurant in rochester. Finally! I got the pineapple and coconut cream Batidos. With the Cubano!

Had the $10 chorizo frita. Very good but dominated by medium spicy sauce. $7 caramelized pineapple batidos shake was very good and not too large.

Coconut cream batido was delicious. Tasted of a melted paleta.

Cubano was overly salty. Beef Fritas was okay, pricing is a little off at the time of writing. $10 for a beef patty and bun seems steep, additional toppings put this into shake shack burger territory. I know the Fritas is not a burger directly but there is comparison.

Me and a couple of other guys stopped there for their late night happy hour after playing broomball downtown. Having loved Taco Jed’s previously, I wasn’t sure what to expect, but we were all impressed with the food and atomosphere. We had the “beef burgers” and fries on the side, which was simple, yet delicious. One ask would be to add at least one local Hazy IPA to the options. It will be fun to see what they do to this place in the summer. We will be back.

I can’t believe how amazing our food smelled through the bag as soon as we picked it up. You won’t be disappointed by the fresh garlicky, herby smells and flavors! I wish I could add a photo but alas, I demolished the plate on sight and left no crumbs. The prices are also very reasonable for the amount of food you get— We got a solid sized container of fries for only $2.50!
