I ordered the Ropa Vieja after asking what was popular. The shredded beef was flavorful, and I appreciated trying something different from the usual options in the area. The portion was generous, and I’m looking forward to coming back to try the fritas since that’s what originally caught my attention.
As a newer restaurant, there may still be some growing pains with service and flow, but that’s understandable when a team is getting established. I’m hopeful they’ll continue to refine the experience as they settle in.
Wishing them continued success — Rochester can definitely use more diverse dining options!
One of the staff was super helpful, kind and full of information to help us select items we would love.
The girl I ordered from, not so much. The guy recommended the Frites (a bit like a hamburger). When I ordered it, I must have mispronounced it. She literally rolled her eyes at me like I was stupid and corrected me. I said yes, I think that’s what I want.
She asked what I wanted on it? I had no idea what the options were. They are NOT listed. I went with a traditional burger. Cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickle, no mayo or sauce. I was told “We don’t have those things- Just the cheese”.
When I asked what options she had, she told me bacon, cheese, avocado is most popular. I don’t eat bacon (many of us don’t), and I didn’t want avocado on it. Anyway. I got my order placed and paid.
Food came out VERY quick. However, it was just a burger with cheese, topped with skinny fries and soaked in a sauce. NOT what I wanted. It was a type of mayo based sauce from what I could tell. I scraped as much of it off as possible. I’m not able to eat Mayonnaise. Added mustard and called it as good as I would get.
I think it would be much more popular with a slice of tomato and some lettuce. Maybe that is not the cucban-ish style, but I very much dislike mine the way it came. Would NOT order it again unless it had some actual condiment options like lettuce & tomato .
We were a group of seven ladies enjoying a lunch out. One of the girls ordered us the churros with chocolate sauce. They were very crisp, but the dark chocolate sauce looked delicious. I think all but 3 were eaten.
They had many fun types of alcoholic drinks as well as shakes. I wanted to try a shake, but the less than helpful girl at the register was in no mood to tell me how the shakes were made and sugar content (diabetic here). So I didn’t even ask after trying to order the burger with lettuce & tomato, I settled for my mostly naked burger / fritas.
It’s a very clean place, great atmosphere, and the gentleman who came to our table several times was so kind and helpful. I appreciated him a lot. He took our group photo. Made us feel very welcomed.
The menu items are unique. I think most all the dishes looked flavorful. If I return I will try the Kiosk to order. Perhaps it lists what comes with each item or options of what they have to embellish with.
P.s. I’ll grab a picture of the actual food next time I visit!
Cubano was overly salty. Beef Fritas was okay, pricing is a little off at the time of writing. $10 for a beef patty and bun seems steep, additional toppings put this into shake shack burger territory. I know the Fritas is not a burger directly but there is comparison.
