Bottom Line Up Front:
Yum Dumpling is a pleasant surprise, delivering great Chinese food with good service in a clean setting.

The Background:
I rarely go out to have Chinese food in Orange County because I find most places to be average at best. Normally if I have a craving, I drive up to the Rowland Heights area for authentic Chinese food. So going to Yum Dumpling I had some apprehensions. Thankfully, I had nothing to fear.

The Food:
My wife and I ordered popcorn chicken to start and the beef tendon noodle soup and sweet-and-sour tenderloin as entrees. The popcorn chicken pieces were quite large and juicy while the breading on the outside was crispy and perfectly seasoned. The noodle soup was flavorful with just the perfect amount of szechuan — a little kick but not so spicy that it numbs your mouth. And the sweet-and-sour tenderloin was solid. The batter was a little softer than I would like; I prefer it a little crispier to balance out the syrupy goodness so that each piece wouldn’t get soggy. But still, the flavors were there and the meat was moist and tender.

The Setting:
Brightly lit with orange walls and light colored wooden tables, the place is clean and has a warm, inviting atmosphere. However, for a sit-down restaurant, it’s a little on the smaller side. There’s a small counter for 2 people, about 4 tables for 4 people, and 4 tables for 6 people. And with limited space, it would be difficult to combine tables for parties of 8 or more. Oh, and I found it odd for a sit-down restaurant with beautiful bowls, plates, and utensils to serve drinking water in cheap, disposable plastic cups.

The Location:
It’s on busy Chapman Avenue in a small strip mall with a small parking lot with limited spots. Plus, each parking spot is a little narrow, so if you drive an SUV or truck, it’ll be a tight squeeze getting in and out if your door.

The Prices:
Maybe I’m slow or living in the past, but the cost of food is creeping up everywhere, and Yum Dumpling is no exception. Prices range from $7 to $10 for appetizers, $10 to $20 for side dishes, and $14 to $20 for entrees. Our dinner for two came out to be about $52 with tip — a little higher than expected for a place that serves water in a plastic cup.

The Service:
Our server was friendly and knowledgeable. Unfortunately, he was basically the only one working the entire floor. There was a female server too, but we rarely saw her. This meant a little slower service than expected given the relative size of the place.

The Conclusion:
While not flawless, Yum Dumpling serves up tasty and authentic Chinese food (a rarity in Orange County) in a clean environment with friendly service. We look forward to returning and trying the other dishes.

We were in Anaheim for a Ducks game and decided we were craving dumplings. We came across Yum Dumpling and are so glad we did. From the moment we walked in, the restaurant felt cozy and welcoming, and the service was excellent.

Once the food arrived, it was clear we made the right choice. Everything was absolutely delicious. We ordered the Kung Pao chicken, house special chow mein, and the shrimp and pork spicy wontons each dish was packed with flavor and made with fresh, crunchy vegetables. The steamed pork bao dumplings were especially impressive: juicy, tender, and full of flavor.

To top it off, we had the passion fruit green tea, which was refreshing and the perfect complement to the meal. Overall, the food, service, and atmosphere were all outstanding. We’ll definitely be coming back next time we’re in the area. Highly recommend!

Food was very good! We ordered edamame, green onion pancakes, orange chicken, white rice, juicy pork Xiao long bao, and the pork and chive dumplings. Everything was good and it was more food than we needed for 2 adults and 2 kids – everything was a large serving size! They also gave my kids these cute learner chopsticks.

I’ve eaten here 4 times, 2 dine-in, 1 takeout, and 1 delivery. The orange chicken is pretty good, but very sweet. Service is friendly but can be a bit slow at times (with the check and checking on you). The honey walnut shrimp is very creamy, not bad. The fried rice tasted bland without additional sauce. The passion fruit green tea is good, with a good portion and pretty presentation. The food is affordable and comes in large portions. In store, the food presentation is good.

For the delivery, tonight, the food was kind of mushy and we weren’t impressed. The orange chicken didn’t taste very good and was soft. The food didn’t stay warm for very long after opening. We live pretty close so it was a short drive. My dad liked the short ribs, but the Mongolian beef was oddly very spicy, not what he expected.

Very good food! My husband even joked he had never seen me eat so much. It was generally quiet around the time we went, so nice quiet atmosphere (4 pm on a Friday). Good customer services. Place was clean and cute. Would definitely go back again.

I had a very large party order and it was very easy to order. Pricing was very reasonable and the quality was great. When i went to pick up the order it was ready on time and still very hot. I was able to serve it warm and everyone really loved the food from the rice and noodles to the dumplings and beef and broccoli. 5/5

Yum Dumpling has easily become one of my favorite neighborhood spots! The decor is super cute, especially if you’re a cat lover, and the food never disappoints.

Their kimchi is absolutely delicious, and my latest obsession is the special tender beef soup and fried tofu, total comfort food perfection. My niece and I came for a family-style dinner to wrap up her birthday weekend, and it was the perfect cozy ending.

She ordered the cream wontons, which she devoured, along with the spicy shrimp and pork wontons and pork baos. We also tried their freshly made iced teas — she had the pineapple and I had the mango — and both were bursting with fresh, deep flavor.

The service here is amazing! The staff are so attentive and make sure your water and kimchi are always refilled. We absolutely love it here, it’s one of those places that makes you feel right at home.

Yum Dumpling is an authentic Chinese restaurant that offers a clean and welcoming dining experience. The staff are friendly and attentive, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in. The food tastes genuine and comforting, just like something you’d find in China.

Prices are quite reasonable for the quality and portion size — for example, a bowl of soup noodles costs around $15, which is pretty standard these days.

Overall, Yum Dumpling delivers solid value with authentic flavors, a tidy environment, and great service. Definitely worth a visit if you’re craving real Chinese dumplings or noodles.
