I went to Yuanfen Private Kitchen in Rowland Heights with my other 2 friends for lunch. The owner is from Shanghai, and the dishes are all authentic Shanghai-style home cooking — simple but incredibly delicious. The boss is very polite and friendly. They also offer customized dishes and private parties. I highly recommend giving it a try!

Don’t come, Not recommend.
Very disappointed with the quality of the food, not
fresh at all, which seems like preserved Chinese prep package that has lots of additives. The taste is fine. The amount is small too. Too salty and all dishes seems like same style with black sauce.
-HOT The ac is not working well, sweating whole time
-Slow, waiting for at least half an hour and each dishes takes a long gap. Only a couple busy in the kitchen I guess it makes sense.

A very humble restaurant yet serving one of the best Shanghainese food we could have in LA. The eel dish （鳝丝) is my favorite.
The owners are super nice and giving us suggestions for our order. You don’t expect very high scale environment tho. Just a local restaurant which serves top notch.

I never expected to find such authentic Shanghainese food in Los Angeles!! As a Shanghainese, this is the best Shanghainese food I’ve ever had in LA! The fried pork ribs with spicy soy sauce are absolutely amazing, and the braised eel with scallion oil has no fishy taste at all! Superb! It’s best to dine in, as the owner cooks it fresh to order!

Don’t come here! The food was served extremely slowly. I waited forty minutes for one dish and another ten minutes for the second. Moreover, the service was terrible. After asking twice, they just told me I could leave if I didn’t want to wait. The food was also very mediocre. I ordered tofu with black fish slices, but the black fish slices didn’t have all the bones cleaned off and were very salty.
