Beautiful Japanese restaurant that was recommended to us by several locals. The staff could be a bit friendlier but the food is so good that it more than makes up for it. The fish in the sushi tasted so fresh and they have this beautiful patio. Highly recommend

My girlfriend and I went to Yosaku for a date the night before her deployment, and it turned out to be the perfect place for such a meaningful evening. We rarely go out to eat — and when we do, it’s always for Japanese food. It’s the only cuisine that consistently feels worth it. Living in Maine, truly good Japanese food and sushi can be tough to find, but Yosaku is about as good as it gets.

The sushi was fresh and beautifully prepared, the menu had a strong range of options, and the sake selection was diverse and top-tier. We sat outside near a peaceful little water feature, and the entire setting — from the ambient music to the gentle background sound of the water — made for a truly relaxing and beautiful dining experience.

The prices were more than fair for the quality of the food and the overall experience. It felt like a restaurant that understands its craft and its customers.

Yosaku is absolutely the best Japanese dining experience I’ve had in Maine. If you’re looking for quality sushi, thoughtful ambiance, and a meal that feels like a treat, this is the place to go.

Tldr: Must try, phenomenal sushi and seafood. Wonderful experience!

First off, get a reservation. It’s quite popular. We sat on tatami raised tables and had the Umi sushi/sashimi platter. It was amazing. For sake recommendation, get the wakatake “demon slayer”. Smooth and light, and relatively cheap for a full bottle. This was also the only location that served grilled squid (yaki ika) which was also amazing. Overall highly recommend!

I was so impressed by this spot!! The tuna is very high quality and I got three delicious rolls for lunch for only $15.50?! Unheard of these days. Also the vibe was so great— the outdoor patio is great with a mini zen garden right next to you. 10/10!

Did not disappoint! Nigiri, sashimi, handrolls and gyoza were all fresh and delicious. We sat at the sushi bar and it was wonderful to watch food being prepared. Some of the best sushi we have had if not in the top 2. Thank you!!!

There’s a reason yosaku is always packed. For a casual sushi restaurant it doesn’t get much better than this. The fish is fresh and delicious and the tempura is light and warm. The coziness and consistency of the menu make it a great place for weeknight dinners or weekend hangout with friends. Back when I had free time, me and a buddy would come here like twice a month and we never had a bad meal.

Pro tip: If the place seems too busy, get a seat at the bar! Clifford the bartender is really excellent and turned us on to the Hamachi Kama and agedashi tofu.

Incredible food, very polite and attentive staff, and very kind and grateful owner who thanked my friends and I for coming in.

I’ve had sushi all over Japan and this is at least tied for the best sushi I’ve ever had. Everything was absolutely incredible. Had the Omakase, shrimp tempura, uni with quail egg, sayori, and monkfish liver. This is my new favorite restaurant. I’m typing this in my parking spot outside the restaurant. Just wow, thank you so much.
