Yoko’s once was a great teriyaki place in the NE Tacoma area. Yoko’s take-out used to be a hundred times better than it was in the Spring of 2023. I’m not sure if Yoko’s changed staff, was under new management, or changed suppliers in 2023….. but Yoko’s has gone way downhill.

After 2022 Yoko’s only served what might be considered decent teriyaki. In the past, i’ve enjoyed their various teriyaki dishes, katsu prawns, tempura, and egg rolls. Yoko’s chicken once was reliably tender and flavorful. Up until the Spring of 2023, soup & salad were included with each take-out meal, and teriyaki dishes were each served on a bed of rice. But no longer, it seems. Out of the last 3 teriyaki take-out entrees i ordered, none were served on a bed of rice, none included miso, and only 1 teriyaki meal included a salad. After enjoying Yoko’s tempura and teriyaki so many times in the past, the last few take-out orders from Yoko’s were a big disappointment. My last time at Yoko’s may have been the worst tempura i’ve ever tasted. Their teriyaki meat itself is still somewhat decent, but a little less appealing than before. Their food tasted different, so they might have changed the teriyaki sauce.

Yoko’s is no longer recommended. Caution: eat at Yoko’s in NE Tacoma at your own risk.

Bad reviews are likely old, as I used to not like the quality of the chicken, but we gave it another try and have been going since. Good portions, good katsu ( a tad greasy tho) and great Teriyaki and nice portions. Also the rice was perfectly sticky. I got the combo last time.

Usually, Yokos was a great spot to pick up dinner. I was left disappointed when I got home after paying 40$ on a meal for 2.

Taste was off with my usual Order..
Grey meat and jelly like substance..
Some meat tough and dry.

I used to be a fan of Yokos but after tonight ouch. Mixed feelings. Maybe in the future, I’ll give it another try to see if its what it used to be, maybe I won’t.

Kitchen staff needs to be more mindful.

Last year they were decent. But now they are absolutely amazing I have gone two times in the last month or two and the food was a 10 out of 10 every time. Very reasonably priced. And they pack your take out tray I almost wasn’t able to finish both times.

The food was amazing, I haven’t had good teriyaki since I’ve moved to the East coast 5 years ago. Been craving it since then, came to visit and have only been here for 4 days and am now coming back for a 2nd time. 10000000000/10 ordered special #1

Overpriced cold slop. Paid $30 for this… Food was barley warm. Rice definitely old and my beef was so chewy, my kid would not eat it. Not even a handful of salad, if you call it that. I have iceberg in my fridge that will fill more. The soup has no flavor its just heated chicken broth with onion.
Just taking advantage of the situation. Cold, bland and pathetic.
I would not recommend this place, as most these teriyaki places. These old folks/criminals will try to cut corners, steal and buy poor produce to make money.
These places should be shut down and “real” restaurants need to come back.
I’ll drop my poo bag on your door.
If only these places and others would have integrity to cook good meals that make us want to come back.
I warn again do not order from this place or most teriyaki places.

I came into town for a family reunion and was on the hunt for top-tier teriyaki. Everyone knows Toshios on Rainier is trash now, so I had to call my cousin for a real recommendation. This place did NOT disappoint. The chicken was delicious, fresh, and perfect—and you can tell the sauce is actually house-made. ☺️ I didn’t want to post pictures because we already polished off the food, but here is a shot of what’s left. If you want the real deal, come here.

They sold us spoiled food and when we went back the lady at the counter was very rude and refused to give us her name and told us to come back Thursday when the owner comes In
