Mediocre Asian Takeout in Seaport

Stopped by to grab some extra food after a weak dinner nearby. Saturday night in Seaport is an odd time for casual takeout spots like this. Most people are dressed up for cocktails, not scooping poke bowls or teriyaki chicken under fluorescent lights. A lot of the dishes on display looked tired, but when we saw a state trooper walk in, we figured it had to be at least decent. It wasn’t.

We got a poke bowl and a combo plate with teriyaki chicken, sautéed shrimp, and Thai basil chicken. The food was underwhelming overall. The poke bowl was fine, but there wasn’t anything tying it together. The wasabi mayo was barely noticeable, and with only four salad or veggie toppings allowed, there wasn’t much room to fix it. They also used large-cut salmon and tuna cubes, which made the texture clunky (doesn’t work unless the fish is extremely fresh).

The combo plate was worse. Aside from the Thai basil chicken, which was ok, the rest tasted like it had been sitting out for hours. The shrimp was rock hard, and the teriyaki chicken was dry. Honestly, I’d pick a Panda Express plate over this any day. The prices here were about the same.

Unexpectedly very good!
I don’t get to the Seaport very often, and I saw this fast food place sandwiched between Chipotle and Madras Dosa. I didn’t see a lot of people at Yoki, so I thought why not give it a try. They had Vietnamese sandwiches, rice bowls, and pho. It was cold out so I went with the beef pho. This place was cheaper than pho in Wellesley and I felt it tasted better. The quality of the beef was excellent. It would have been nice to get a little more, but at this price, I was happy with it overall.

This laid-back spot is all about delicious, budget-friendly eats that hit the spot. The vibe was super friendly, and the manager Rachid couldn’t have been nicer—really went above and beyond to make us feel at home. More flavor, more fun, and definitely more for your buck! ❤️

You HAVE to try these:
Orange Chicken – Cooked right in a flaming wok!
Combo Beef Noodle Soup – Perfectly hearty and satisfying, great for chilly days!
Banh Mi – I went with the grilled beef and grilled pork—both packed with flavor and HUGE!
Tofu Poke Bowl – My absolute fave, loaded with all my favorite toppings!

Can’t wait to go back for more!

Most mid and overpriced poke you will ever have. It was genuinely just okay on all fronts. Service was also surprisingly slow, considering there were only three customers in the entire fast casual establishment.

⭐️ = highly recommend

The food is alright but the poke bowl is worth definitely worth it. It’s a quick grab and go in you’re in a rush or just need something quick. I personally don’t like the burrito as much just cause it does fall apart from both ends.

Poke bowl with tuna and crabstick was delicious. Tuna and crab were very fresh along with all the toppings. Heaping portion of well cooked rice. Employee was helpful in making suggestions for toppings and sauces.

This was my first time having a sushi burrito and they didn’t disappoint. I got the sriracha salmon one – it was spicy, fresh and delicious. The location is easily accessible and the service was fast – kind of like a chipotle but with fish. The interior was clean and white, new-agey. Prices were decent but on the high side. Overall good experience.

If you haven’t tried sushi burritos yet, you’re missing out. It’s like a gigantic hand roll but customized chipotle style! I personally love salmon, so I combined raw salmon and grilled salmon for the protein in my burrito. The raw salmon was creamy and not too fishy, and I’d definitely get double portions of it next time rather than the grilled salmon. The rice to protein to veggie (you get a choice of up to 4 types) ratio was on point. They have a wide variety of sauces and veggie sides, which all looked fresh and clean. I also really liked the flavor of their seaweed salad; it paired well with the raw fish!

Finally their milk tea was very impressive. It’s so rare that you can find high quality milk tea at a shop that doesn’t specialize in it, and Yoki Express was that exception. The brown sugar syrup they used was so good, and the boba was molten and chewy.

I ordered a grilled salmon, brown rice poke bowl online, and I got a tuna white rice bowl. The food itself was fine, but good grief, actually give me what I order for $25 (expensive!), please. I would’ve asked for a refund had I had time to do that when I got my hotel.

Express is right! Fast and quality service here. Love that you can build your own bowl or burrito but also offer great combo ideas. Also, love that brown rice is always an option. Great for pick up or dine in over your lunch break.
