Inspired by Japanese izakaya culture, Yokai is a meeting place for friends to catch up and have a few laughs in a casual setting while enjoying crisp beers, cool cocktails, refreshing sakes, warming whisky, and a variety of tasty, fun eats that complement the drinks.
We’re putting our own twist on a variety of dishes from Japan, Korea, China, and around the world, including ramen, Korean fried chicken, delicious dumplings, bao, chicken katsu sandos, and more.

Would recommend making a reservation. We sat at the bar, where the service was quick and the bartender was very attentive. The food was okay, however, the fried chicken tasted a bit stale, like it wasn’t fresh. Portions are on the smaller side, so it’s more of a place to chat and enjoy a small bite rather than have a full meal.

One of my favorite spots downtown to grab dinner or a drink and a quick bite! Good vibes all around and great food and drinks!! (ask about the drink specials!). Also the donuts are heavenly they melt in your mouth

The food is phenomenal… & don’t sleep on the doughnuts. I’ve now tried every food item on the menu and the only disappointment was the kimchi tots (the tots are not crispy enough to withstand the sauce and the cheese to kimchi ratio is off.)
The service is consistent, though they need one more server on the floor and/or a second bartender during rush and full-house nights. The servers are very friendly and helpful with questions and suggestions!
The atmosphere is fun and lively! And the bathrooms are 10/10.

For what I ordered, I don’t feel the $71 total was justified. The 6 chicken wings were $12, the tiger noodles were $15, the tuna taco was $11, and the pineapple drink was $8. I’m not sure of the exact price of the Painkiller, but overall the cost did not match the value or experience.
The service was slower than expected, especially since the restaurant did not appear to be very busy, despite the server mentioning otherwise. There were several open seats available. While I understand seating can sometimes be limited, we were initially placed at the bar on small chairs with dishes stacked on the counter in clear view, which was not appealing. We decided to move outside near the heaters, but there was no heat on, which made it uncomfortable.
I also noticed that everything we ordered was fried, with no grilled or healthier alternatives offered. Additionally, all of the food arrived before the specialty beverages, which disrupted the flow of the meal.
Overall, this was not a good experience for me personally. I expected better service, better seating accommodations, and better value for the amount spent.

We wanted to try something a bit different and this place did not disappoint. We tried several dishes and everything was spectacular. Super flavorful. And save room for dessert. The outdoor seating was great.. covered, comfortable and could lightly hear the music.

We went to Yokai for dinner tonight and, while it may have been our mistake not making a reservation, the service we experienced was extremely disappointing. It was busy, which I completely understand. When the waitress first came over, she told us it was really crazy and that it would be a long wait to be seated, or we could check outside. We agreed and went outside with her, where there was an empty table. She mentioned it might be reserved but wasn’t sure if we could sit there.
My husband then noticed two seats open at the bar and suggested we sit there instead. She said that was fine and removed the glasses from the bar, but left spilled food all over the counter. We stood there for about five minutes while she walked past us several times and never cleaned it up or acknowledged us again. Eventually, we just sat down ourselves.
We sat at the bar for another 10 minutes with no menus. The bartender made eye contact, said hello, and then continued on. During that time, I noticed other guests who arrived after us also so without reservations, being seated and given menus. No one checked on us, cleaned the food in front of us, or offered menus, so we finally got up and left.
I’ve been here before and was really looking forward to dinner, especially since we were celebrating my birthday. Unfortunately, the lack of service completely ruined the experience, and I left feeling very disappointed.

Went to Yokai for the first time for a friend’s birthday dinner. The staff were all very attentive and friendly, willing to answer all our questions. However, there were items listed on their online food menu that were not on their in-store menu. One of them being an item I was planning to order. We had a variety of apps, some that were phenomenal (rangoon dip and tuna wontons) and some that were just okay (kimchi tots). Most everyone enjoyed their entrees – the gochujang burger getting the best review. I got the Tiger noodles since Tteokbokki was no longer on the menu, and it was okay. The broth needed a little extra something to it and there was only one thin slice of tofu. The real pinnacle of our experience was the wide range of delicious and unique alcohol. I had a matcha nigiri and omfg it was so good. Everyone loved their drinks from the Citrus drops to the sake flights. Definitely a drink and apps kind of spot.

The fried rice with pork belly was phenomenal. Cucumber salad was good, slushy was ok. Wings were terrible and salty. Ramen was good! Took an order of donuts to go, yes they were amazing.

We had dinner here on Saturday. We didn’t have a reservation but we’re seated immediately. We started with the non alcoholic slushies. You can add alcohol but we don’t drink. The mango one was our favorite. We had the wings and waffle-Nashville hot style, pork spare ribs, and Philly fried rice. The wings and fried rice were our favorites! We also tried the sesame ice cream for dessert which was delicious. The atmosphere was lovely.

My favorite time to come is when they have the themed curated menu/drink pairing events! Sake choices for days! I had matcha sake and I dream about it often. I love to belly up to a bar, so I appreciate the personable bartenders.
