From the moment we walked in, through every stage of our dining experience it was top notch. The food, the service, the ambience just amazing. It was my dad’s birthday and he truly enjoyed it. As we did as well. They even gave him a Polaroid as a keepsake! We had the salmon, custard soup, truffle crab roll, grilled scallop shrimp and the cheesecake soufflé, and the green tea ice cream. What a great night!

How do I know that?
We spent 4 nights of our vacation and invested $1800 in 4 Japanese culinary experiences, each of which we were told by fellow reviewers and professional critics were the best (see list attached).
Out of my 500 OpenTable & Resy dining experiences in the last 4 years, this restaurant was in the top 10 WORLDWIDE and the best Japanese cuisine in all 50 states.
Our favorites were California Rolls with snow crab and all the tempuras.
Prices were the most reasonable of all Honolulu restaurants in this category!

The freshest sashimi I’ve ever had on the island!! All the ingredient are freshly sourced, beautifully plated. Udon soup is also surprisingly good, I would say it’s the best udon soup in Hawaii!!! (Hidden gem!!!) so fresh so good Would definitely recommend everyone who wants high quality Japanese cuisine

This sushi place is such a gem! The fish quality is amazing — you can taste how fresh it is, and it’s definitely not the usual stuff you get at most sushi spots. It’s not farmed fish either, which really makes a difference.
It’s also super close to my home, so it’s become one of my go-to places. The service is great, everyone is really friendly, and the chef is incredibly nice. He even chats about the fish and gives great recommendations.
They also have a great selection of drinks. Lots of really good sake and other beverages, which makes it a perfect spot for hanging out and chatting over drinks. The atmosphere is wonderful, and the place is beautifully decorated.
Overall, it’s the kind of place you just want to keep coming back to. Highly recommend it to anyone who loves good sushi!

My husband and I went in for their Hau’ Oli omakase. The omakase was thoughtfully prepared with fresh local ingredients and fish imported from Japan. They even called ahead of our reservation to make sure my allergic restrictions were well known and communicated to the chef an staff. The ambience was quaint and elegant great for a date night or any special occasion. Their service was also genuine and attentive. Shout out to our two Servers Soobin & Yujie (sorry if I misspelled the names) for making our experience at Yohei a one to remember for a very long time :). Mahalo!
