Whenever my partner and I are in Milpitas, we know we have to go to YGF. We usually have to wait for a table, but it’s worth it. They have plenty of options for meat, vegetables, and other toppings, and they’re always very generous with putting lots of soup in your bowl.

FOOD
beef bone broth is very good. they have standard malatang ingredients like vegetables, tofu, meat, etc. sauce station is lacking though— not much variety in terms of sauce.

SERVICE
wait time is pretty long (about 30-40mins for a table for 4). cooking time is relatively short though (about 5-10mins). workers speak chinese and english

ATMOSPHERE
very busy at night!! kinda loud inside so youll need to talk loud. parking is VERY hard to find, you may need to park further. they have some bar style seats that face the window (which i liked). theres both outside and inside seating. also saw a cool skyline outside so maybe youll see a cool car too

Price is $15.99/lb with the many options for the broth. Malatang has gotten very popular recently and feels similar to hot pot. You get a decent amount of food if you only eat 1 lb of food.

The space in the restaurant is on the smaller side, but the wait time is short. You grab a bowl and go down the line while picking up the ingredients you want into your bowl. At the end, the cashier weighs the bowl to determine how much to pay.

Wait time for them to cook the food and bring it out to you is very quick, which helps bring down the wait time. I enjoyed the beef broth but spice level was high for me personally at the mild level.

Pretty good vegetables and meat. The beef is nice and the soup (I got the beef bone soup, high spicy level) is among the tastiest for malatang in the bay area.

Tried the dry version and had a mixed feelings. Noodles were overcooked, which took away the texture. I paid $22+ which felt pricey, though Malatang is priced by weight and ingredients. Flavor wise, it’s ok, but if you’re used to bold, punchy Mala in Singapore, this version might feel a bit muted. Lack of deep aromatic kick.

It’s a nice place where you create your own bowl by picking from a variety of items, then choose your soup base. It’s easy to end up with a lot of food. Neither of us could finish our bowls, and even the kid had too much. I thought the soup flavors could have been better. They didn’t taste like good ramen. Still, it’s worth trying.

I went with my Chinese friend, and it was absolutely incredible. The food was so good it blew my mind. We spent around $45, which included 1 pound of food (priced at $15 per pound) and two drinks. I loved being able to customize everything and pick all the ingredients I wanted—it made the experience even better.

I asked the staff about the spice levels, and they warned me that the extra spicy was really intense. As a Korean, I opted for the regular spicy this time, and honestly, it wasn’t very spicy at all—probably mild by Korean standards. Next time, I’m definitely trying the extra spicy!

The ingredients were super fresh, and there was plenty of parking, which was really convenient. The place seems pretty popular. We didn’t have to wait, but I can see there being a line during busy lunch hours.

Also, there’s a fantastic boba spot nearby! Grabbing a drink there after your meal is the perfect finishing touch. I’ll absolutely be going back—it was just that good!

My food came with a small bowl even though the weight is 1.04 pounds, while the other two had bigger bowls with weight 1.4+ pounds. Don’t know what the cutoff weight for the size of bowl is. I like the flavors better than YGF in Cupertino. Somehow I feel it’s less salty. The tables and chairs are nicer, too.

A pay per pound hot pot spot where you just pick your ingredients and they make it for you.
It’s a novel experience around these parts and honestly it’s pretty decent.
Was a fun experience and while the food is pretty mid mostly, it’s priced alright too so is worth a visit if keen.

Came here about maybe two weeks ago? Although the line for it was quite long, I do think it was worth the wait. I got the tomato broth and it was so savory and delicious. I actually prefer this tomato broth over the tomato broth in one of the other malatang places nearby. I also think their signature broth is quite delicious. Good selection of noodles, meats, and toppings. I really enjoyed dining here and despite the hectic dinner rush, the staff was pretty organized. I will come back again and recommend this place!
